  • Write on ‘Vinyl’ – Ball Point Pen?

Posted by John Cooper on February 3, 2018 at 8:33 am

    Hi guys

Some while ago I made some small ‘For Repair’ & ‘Repaired’ stickers for a customer. Using a standard gloss vinyl they were next to useless an you can’t write on them with a ball point pen and it would smudge!

Today, I’ve been asked if I can print another lot of these stickers but on a substrate that can be written on with a ball point pen.

So, my question – is there a ‘substrate’ I can use for this purpose?

    Regards

    John

Try a Matt vinyl rather than gloss?

We supply Matt vinyl labels to customers like David suggests. It can still smudge as soon as it is applied. Once it’s dry it’s just like paper

    Thanks all,

I know there’s product for these ‘write-on’ labels.

    I might just sub out.

Sharpies do work, but if you’ve not got one in your pocket – a bic it is πŸ™‚

    Hi John

We do exactly the same thing for a client and we found a product called Digisol, that is available from Allprint.

It has a textured scratch resistant finish wth a grey back adhesive and can be written on with a biro.

We have printed around 50,000 little labels as a print and cut job for a client with no complaints, they use them to attached to machinery when they are serviced, the engineer dates and signs the label.

    Hope this helps.

Do you have a link to the product as I just searched on AllPrint and about 30 pages showed up πŸ™‚ We do buy from AllPrint.

    Cheers

I am sure we used this a while back for similar thing too.
From memory, All Print sent me some samples in the post right at the time i needed some. I am sure one of our lads ordered it and worked well. Like Mike says, also has a textured surface.

3005 anti scuff, forgot about that one and even have a roll here.

Good material for labels, very thick but prone to shrinkage, not that it overly matters with labels
