  • Wrapping with join lines inbetween doors

Posted by Daniel Evans on 24 March 2017 at 16:47

    Hi all

I’m new to wrapping and i’m still very much learning how to do things correctly and efficiently.

Please see attached image, I need to print this as it’s a colour I cannot get close to, rather than waste a large amount of vinyl, I would like to print it in sections i.e, back area, side door, front door with the joins in between the doors.

If i use Versaworks to tile this, it will do straight lines where as I need it to curve with the door otherwise I’ll have a massive overlap, is this the correct way?

    How would you do this?

    Thanks

I would use wrapcut / knifless tape, mark out the flowing line with the tape, print the film in sections big enough to go over the knifless and the more than the width of the panel, wrap each panel as required and thw trim using the wrapcut tape…

Thats how I’d do it anyway!

ps, just use the over-lap and trim on the edge or tuck around a few mm..

    Exactly as hugh says.

Or print the curve, trim on a bench.

How would you deal with the O at the top in the recess? It’s basically a border for the text to sit in

I always tend to put cut vinyl over the top.

That way it doesn’t matter if you need jocky things around as templates arent 100%

That O will be quite distorted and probably rotated as well by the time you have got it all down, and the letter going on top is not going to fit. Just carry on the curve and fit the letters over the top as David says.

    Thanks Guys

I think that might be the best way to go.

I’ve got 3 of these todo so by the time i get to the last one, i’ll be a pro

I don’t want to teach you to suck eggs but as you are printing the wrap in panels remember to apply the solid colour printed vinyl in the same direction that it came off the printer otherwise any banding on the print will stick out like a soar thumb.

    Good luck Peter

    Thanks Peter

    That’s good advise, always.

You can tile it with a big overlap and then just trim that away at the door openings when fitting so you dont see any joins.

I make the tiles in the design software rather than in the RIP
