Spent a long time designing this. I wanted something that would catch everyones attention. Obviously not finished yet but it’s already a real head turner.

looks good Karl….the vehicular equivalent of my wig I think! 😀

Be good if you could fake the top of the Smart letters going in under the window glass…if you know what I mean.

I may be being a little harsh here Karl but the sides look like someone has tagged your car…(I’m really not trying to be negative, just an honest opinion…hope you don’t mind).

You mean a bit "Girly" :lol1:

Seriously though – well done Karl – it’s looking good so far.

At least you don’t have anyone breathing down your neck while you do it this time 😕

Thanks for that Emma & Harry.

The windows are going to be printed and then cut into lines Harry. I don’t like using vision film I think it looks ‘orrible.

It didn’t on screen mate but yes it does now. I think maybe when it’s complete it’ll look different.

    Thanks for the comments.
No Phill…no one at all breathing down me neck…….bliss! 😉

No problem Karl…at the end of the day if it gets you attention it’s doing it’s job and you’re right, when it’s finished I’m sure it will look different again.

(+ designing your own vehicle seems to be one of the hardest things we ever gt to do)

I’m guessing you mean that you’ll be using the 2mm line cutting technique Rob posted tips on? Instead of film I mean. Will be good to see that when it’s done. Just wondering, why the preference to that than film?

I can see where Craigs coming from, it almost has a stylised Graffiti look to it- which is one of the reasons I think it looks great.

And as you say, left to get on with it this time! Thank god eh!

Yes mate……that’s something that’s been mentioned many times and it’s true. It’s like you get writers block!

They way I’m doing the windows is like this: Printing onto a standard white gloss then decal cutting it into stripes. the stripes will be 7mm with a 2 or 3 mm gap. But i’m going to do a test on this first to see what will look best.

Very bright and very noticeable Karl. Think you’ll have to provide onlookers with sunglasses 😎

    Thanks John.
That would be a good selling point Neil……"Look at my car and get a Free pair of Ray Bans with your 1st order!’

    Looks like I’ve had a mod-edit. 😕

It looks good so far, think it will be nice when it’s done. It’s the most eye catching advert you could get. Are you going to put contact details on it anywhere?

    Thanks Liam.
The contact details will be added when all the wrap is fitted. They’ll be more visible on the back as there’s more dead space to make these bigger. Also the logo will be added to the bonnet under the intercooler molding.

This is the idea for the windows and the back.

Done a few van windows like this but I did the stripes vertical so they didn’t hold water.
Also keep the gap and the solid the same width it seems to look better, like robs tutorial.

    Looks good though.

The back design looks great, good thinking to get in how many people see the advert. I read the same about same sized vertical stripes, we’re far from ready to use it but sounds like a good tip!

Thanks for that 😉 I’m trying the vertical method now (stop laughing).
Doing it with 2 mm stripe then 2mm gap darkens the image so i’ve increased this stripe to 3mm. It’s a bit lighter but any more and it looks wrong. Robs demo shows this with normal vinyl so you don’t lose the text as this is solid. This is printed so the gaps as you’ve suggested lose the richness of the image slightly. I’ll post a pic shortly.

Lets put it this way Liam. I drive about 30 to 40 miles a day through and around Nottingham. In reality it’s probably more than that.
Just on the road alone outside the shop 10 cars go past a minute.

Karl, get off the forum and on with the job so we can see the finished article. :lol1: :lol1:

Just out of interest did you have any sort of target market in mind when you sat down to design it or did you just think if it got noticed you would get more business in general?

Lets put it another way mate. If someone comes in here and asks for a price on something like the Kia and I gave them a price of lets say £1500 they’d fall down. That’s because they only have a one way vision of "Christ….my ad will cost me way to much!" But if you show them the benefit of such an ad then that’s a different story. That’s what the car is getting across. It stands out…it promotes my business….sticks in peoples minds and above all becomes a talking point that brings in more business. lastly the idea was also not to look like every other business. I hate being a ‘Me too!’

    Hi Martin.
The target audience is everyone mate. Yes I want business people to see it, but also jo public. Everyone knows someone who runs a business. That’s what i’m on about when I said it becomes a talking point. And at the end of the day it’s not only business that have graphics on their cars mate. It’s not like doing a leaflet drop. I pay once to do it and that’s it. It’s better value by far than the Yellow Pages or a web site.

p.s Karl, i definitely think your car is a good visual demonstration of what’s possible with wraps, also with covering windows, some customers have no ability to visualize the end product.
