After attending the Grafityp course I got hold of some wrap vinyl and have started practicing on my van, VW T4.

On the deep recess, on a couple of occasions I have applied the vinyl, its lying nice and tight over the recess, I have applied heat over the vinyl but when I put the vinyl into the recess and drag/pull towards the end of the recess I sometimes get small zip like creases on the outer edge of the recess, my first thought is its being caused by friction, vinyl being dragged when I pull/drag my finger.

Any tips guys, would I be better using a wrap glove ?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Bob

Yes definitely need a glove! It reduces the friction. Others no doubt will say invest in one of the 3m rollers, not my cup of tea but some fitters swear by them!

In answer to the ‘zip’ effect that normally is caused by the vinyl being too hot. Wrapping takes a lot of patience and time, remember, less is more!

It also occurs if heat is applied to wet vinyl! Are you doing the wrap wet?

Thanks for the reply Matt, no definitely dry, probably the heat issue.

Will no doubt take time to get it right. Any particular make / supplier of glove you would advise.

    Cheers

Personally I use any cotton glove, any good chemist sell them, but I do have Avery ones, bit pricey but they do last well and all print supplies do a descent glove too.

A more important investment is a temperature controlled heatgun!
