  • Wrap film adhesion fail, advice on problem please?

Hi guys we have wrapped many vehicles and would like to know if your having any issues with the heat and humidity, we had a job fail with easy curves and when I was Fitting noticed the initial tac was poor, using hx20000
I know it’s hot but could the weather cause adhesion problems and pulling out of very simple curves all post heated etc etc

by any chance do you have a picture Rich?

    "Humidity"
The only downside of humidity that i have experienced is that the initial tack of the vinyl can increase.
By that i mean it sticks on contact and needs a bit of a sharp snap back to lift it. This was some years back and was a regular adhesive on the vinyl, no air channel or levitating adhesive system.

Could it be possible there is a wax/polish on the vehicle?

Had a similar issue last summer, but put it down to residual polish, since then always use the 3 step cleaner they sell. Tech spec on film leans towards install temp of 20 – 25 degrees and if you have post heated I usually go to 95. We deal with Marcus there and in the past he has attended when I have had concerns might be worth talking to him. Good luck

Thanks guys I don’t have an photos as I peeled it off, it failed in a couple of places and that we’re not under any real stress, I’ve ordered another roll of material and also their final cleaner(I used Avery surface cleaner) so it was cleaned well before hand. Strange one will re wrap on Monday and update

Can’t say I’ve had vinyl fail, other than one attempt to apply some lettering to a matt black wrapped that turned out to be almost 60°C – even after 10mins out of the sun!!

I have really struggled with the last batch of oracal application tape though, just won’t stick to anything, bought a cheaper spandex alternative which I have to say has not missed a beat.

Just a quick update guys, the job was a repaired vehicle and where the new paint was blended to the old (ie not the complete panel painted) was where the wrap failed, we asked for the paint to be redone and we left it for sometime before we rewrapped, the outcome was perfect and we can only put it down to where the repair was done, thanks Rich
