    Hi Martin

I bought a roll at Sign UK this year. I used it once, on laminated print, and it was awful! Very difficult to pull through and left a jagged cut, which I then had to clean up on the vehicle.
When it was demonstrated, on reflection, it was shown using a single layer of cutting vinyl, so not sure if it is only good for (ie) 80mm thickness, or whether it is a case of practice. Havent used it since, and may turn out to be one of those costly mistaken purchases. 👿

Martin, there was a post about this or it was mentioned in one of the wrapping posts, sorry can’t remember the exact details.
It was mentioned in one of the posts that one type was better than another :lol1:

either wrapcut or knifeless tape is a good investment.
i do favour one over the other for a few reasons, but thats just my personal opinion.
ive done a video basically showing it being used. but i also have a blog which will share my views and opinions freely to anyone and everyone. only catch is, it will be only available on signapp

it will however be featured in the Tutorials section of UKSB in full.

sorry for being a bit vague. 😕

I got a roll from Dorotape Martin, they were about the only signmaking supplier I could find with a google search but I’m sure others must sell it.

Thanks guys. How you liking it? Not 100% sold on knifeless tape. It leaves abit of a rough edge. And the thing I really don’t like is even tho you apply the tape straight the string underneath isn’t and can give you wobble line.

But for speed and not cutting on paintwork it’s great.

both tapes have their pro’s and cons, none are perfect. i prefer wrap-cut though.

I’ve not tried the knofeless tape Martin so can’t really comment, maybe you could update this post once you have tried the wrap cut as you will have used both.
I bought the wrap cut to try having done the wrapping course but haven’t had much chance to test it out yet.

just to say that in an environment where you can’t count our cut in advance and dont want to be putting a blade anywhere near the substrate / vehicle this stuff is worth its weight in gold. We’ve tried both, wrap cut 1/4 the price of knifeless, and no different if you dont need to do too many curves, Knifeless is easier/better for curves in opposing directions, like a wave for instance..

Both wrap-cut and knifeless tape are a must have for any vinyl applicators toolbox, not just for wrappers.

ive used both tapes more and more. i still prefer the wrap-cut though.
i find its easier to work with and gets consistently better cuts.

wrap cut has its limits as far as bending both ways, but i have no real need to do that.

knifeless is also a very good tape, but my opinion is its gear more for the US market or the freelance wrapper that doesn’t have a vinyl cutter.
it is marketed as being much more versatile and in many way it is. but some of the things they push it can do, i just wouldn’t even go there. too time consuming and not accurate enough.

i also have my own views on warranty issues that may arise for wrappers, but i wont go there. for now… 😀

    just my opinion of course…

Tried knifeless tape and it was great, when i finished my roll I thought I’ll try wrap-cut found it alot more difficult specially when starting the cut, they recommend making a slit in the tape for the string to start cutting, this adds an extra step compared to the knifless tape wer you just pull with ur thumb on the tape,

Might be doing it allwrong, but for now im staying with knifless tape

Ive found the trick is making a little nick in the vinyl with tip of a knife
pull the wire up to that,, then use two fingers one either sidepulling the vinyl nice and tight. this greatly reduces jagged lines,

also giving lots of prssure to the vinyl over the tape allong the length.

aslso if possible give a bit extra to get your cut started before where it counts
