To all of you interested in sailing, the crew of the "Sail Rocket" team are in town, attempting to break the outright world speed record under sail. They aim to do 50knots (about 91kmh / 57mph) in winds of 22 knots.
Apparently there is a crew in Australia trying to be the first as well. Have to wait and see if they do it in Oz, the country of sheep molesters, or Namibia, the , uhm, country of sheep molesters…

The attempt is at the "spped strip" , Walvis Bay Lagoon, and i live in sight of it!!

For interest sake, the current 1 Nautical Mile records for men and woman were set up in Walvis Bay last year. If the Sail Rocket crew are successful, the 500 metre mens and ladies records will also be set in W Bay, giving us ALL of the world short course speed sailing records. Oh, and a local bloke (owner of Bay Air Aviation) currently holds the 1 hour distance record (GPS).

    So there, beat that!!
