Oh yes, not long to go now.

This will be the 13th world cup I have watched and for the first time I can honesty say we don’t stand a chance. But who cares I love this tournament.

was it really 4 years ago we had that little sweep stake going.. which I managed to win 😀

‘COME ON ENGLAND’ !! :pink: :cheer:

Close Harry but not quite, one of the players has a burning desire to be a signwriter & was surfing the net prior to the game, when he came across this thread. With Martin being such a respected member of the community this player (who shall remain nameless) lost all heart & the feeling of despair spread through the whole team :lol1: :lol1:

Brazil were pants last night, nothing like the Brazilian teams of old.

Nigeria… were worse than a Sunday team over my local park.

Although a couple of Dull 0-0 ers its a good tournament with plenty of goals.

Brasil do not deserve to pass the quarter finals with this type of play. However, no one will allow Brasil to go down too early. I am not sure if it is possible but I think the semi finals will be among Netherlands, Brasil, Argentina and Germany.. Hopefully, there will be a surprise and we will see other teams with good performance. At least there are a lot of goals unlike 2010 🙂

I have lran in a sweepstake, not the kind of team you want when a 0-0 draw with Nigeria is a great result and almost the equivalent of reaching the final.. 🙁

What a shocker last night 😮 goodbye Spain and the Dutch weren’t as convincing as against Spain so I agree with you Harry still wide open and Chile a good outside bet G.

    COME ON ENGLAND

I reckon we will do it tonight with a 2-1 or 3-2 or it might be a 1-1 draw 😕

Chille will be a good option for Brazil as they will be much easier opponent. Maybe it was set this way to avoid a Brazil vs Spain match.. anyway I hope to see some more exciting games like Australia vs Netherlands – what a goal from Cahil!! First half of Chile Spain was also a good time for me 🙂

Lets see what England will achieve today. I see it 2:0 with goals from Rooney and Gerrard

One thing is certain this morning, what England have to find is a decent manager. Time and again you see international teams with about 1/3rd of the talent achieving more than what successive talented teams from England do,

What is wrong that they cannot seem to gel as a team….must be management?
Hodgson reminds me of a civil servant coasting to retirement, the height of his ambition was to get out of the group and it looks like he hasn’t even achieved that.

    I blame the overpaid players.

Just give them a basic minimum wage, but a reasonable bonus for every goal the team scores, doubled if they win.

With all the money saved from the lower wages, I’m sure the fans would appreciate lower priced tickets as well.

I hear the F.A have contacted David Moyes already…………………

Its down to the whole F.A setup at the moment – remember Grieg Dyke doing a cut throat gesture?

Hell take the under-17 squad and just play them from now onwards – least they now how to win !

When I said it was just a blip and a minor set back, what I meant is that it was a total F..ck up! what the hell were Italy doing 🙁

So that could be: SPAIN, ENGLAND, ITALY & PORTUGAL all out in the group stages..potentialy I would have liked a tenner on that.

USA AND PORTUGAL last night was worth staying up for, USA must be kicking themselves..Portugal drawing with virtually the last kick of the game.

Simple answer from someone knows sweet FA about football. The Premiership should limit the amount of foreign players in any one squad.
That way, wouldn’t home grown talent be brought through the ranks?

Just a thought as I felt very sad for the likes of Mr R and Mr G and the younger players when England were knocked out and I don’t want it to happen again especially in the 2016 Euro’s.

    3 GAMES 2 GOALS 1 POINT……not great statistics.

But I think we were better and outplayed all the teams we played… just lack that killer finishing instinct:(

Brazil, will be lucky to get through to the final and wouldn’t surprise me if Chile beat them, even with the home crowd.

It seems the teams that are used to the heat are doing well…….but my Money is on the Dutch..would love to see them win.

I think they could beat Germany this time round Craig if they meet……

    Germany v Netherlands final…. 3-2 to the Dutch 😀

But the final is normally the dullest game in the tournament, where teams seem to play not to loose rather than to win…… could see an exception though its been a great tournament with plenty of goals.

Martin, we only looked good in short spells, often when the other side sat back & let us bring the ball forward a bit but your right about the finishing. What we need is an old style centre forward, no point having guys who are capable of getting down the line & putting the ball across if there’s no one challenging for it.

My opinion is that England has quite good players but they lack team play.. they do not seem to play as one. Especially forward.. I am not sure if the coach is to blame or the players.. and it is the same on every tournament.

I think the Germans have the team and skills to win the tournament. Netherlands and France also showed great play but I think semi-final would be the most they can achieve 🙂

Yeah, what a goal… The only one similar on the wow effect was the first goal by van Persie vs Spain..

The Dutch are great but they really need to play like their last game after Mexico’s goal.. Before that they weren’t anything more than a regular team.

I’d love to see the Brazilians try to kick the Germans off the field like they did the Colombians.

This is where it can all go t**s up, I’m 34 pts off the top of the Sun’s predictor competition, #759 at the moment so not too shabby considering I was outside the top 51,000 before the knockout stages.

I think Germany will be too strong now Brazil are missing two major players, and the Argies will just have one trick too many for the Dutch.

Has to be Germany now, unless as said Messi can shine, think he will be marshalled out of the game myself.

Pity Vlaar let this brush his shoulder…would have been an interesting controversy, the last few games have been meh after a great early tournament and needs something.
