• Working with PDF file

Posted by Dave Bruce on July 5, 2005 at 12:28 pm

I have been sent a PDF file, and I need to change the colour of the text and add some lines. How can this be achieved, I have Corel 11 (don’t have the fonts so it won’t import as is) Signlab 7 (no filter for PDF) and just got Photoshop 6 (so just learning it).

    Cheers

no real answer dave. without the fonts your stuck.

You’d need to ask your client to convert the text to curves, and resend it or include them on the file/disk so you can use them.

Post the file and I am sure I can covert it for you. I use Omega and can open pdf files in that and also in troop design.

Sometimes corel will List the fonts but if you proceed the customer may have converted it to curves anyway. It still sometimes lists the fonts.

My advice is to try and import PDF, then look at the PDF in acrobat reader and to check over it, make your changes and “Publish to PDF”, then check the difference. You may find that Corel “changes” the colours in the conversion or other things may happen. Your best bet is to get the customer to do it then you wont get the blame when it goes wrong.

Thanks Capricorn that worked a treat. It wouldn’t import in to Corel but it did in to Signlab.

    Thank you very much
