  • Wood Grain Effect Vinyl Supplier?

Posted by Rachel on September 23, 2005 at 9:34 am

    Hi everyone

Does anyone know of a supplier that does wood grain effect vinyl? I’ve got a customer that wants polished S/S built up lettering on wood effect background, I was wondering if I could cover it in vinyl to keep the cost down – that is if I can find a supplier! 🙂

Otherwise back to the drawing board!

    Thanks

I think Victory do woodgrain vinyl and Grafityp used to do a range but I’m not sure.

Ashby will supply their sign trays in a range of wood grain effects

Why not buy one of them wood graining effect kits from B&Q, and do it yourself, on to the background?? worth a try if you get stuck

I’ve been meaning to vectorise some woodgrain for a while but I haven’t had the time.

But I like the idea of using the woodgrain paint kit type thing.

    Never thought of that.

why not get some one or print your self a wood back ground on a digital printer, if the sign is internal way not use fablon (the stuff you can get from most DIY shops) Ive used it on some internal signs and it still looks good 4years latter, probably no good if out side. hope this helps

I had thought of doing that – I was just wondering if I could find a supplier then it would be easier!

The wood graining kit sounds like a good idea too Simon hadn’t thought of doing that – i’ll have to look into that

    Thanks

    or.. use the real thing??
You could get a nice peice of ply, with a good grain pattern and varnish..
    (would be quite dear)

you can buy woodgrain trims from a building plastics supplier in 6m lengths up to abiut 200mm wide in mahogany, rosewood, or light oak – see if eurocell have a depot near you – eurocell.co.uk
Also, cox plastics do 2mm woodgrain pvc sheets as used in the manufacture of upvc doors.

Checked with victory and they’re discontinuing they’re wood grain range but do have a bit left.

I’m gonna try eurocell and cox plastics see if they can help me too.

Thanks Brian and Joe! And everyone else too!
