5yr old roll of LG orrible vinyl!

5yrs ago I was sent 3 rolls of LG vinyl in error, I’d ordered oracle 651 i think, now I hated that vinyl with a passion, for some reason it would never track properly, it was awful to weed small stuff with, etc.

after about ten attempts to get the supplier to collect the vinyl (they replaced it immediately btw), I was still left with three boxes of vinyl, a whole tax year later and it was still there so.. sod it, i’m gonna use it for large lettered jobs and short term stuff.

As you can imagine, the black and white went quite quickly but, this roll of awful red had been in my way forever, I just couldn’t bring myself to chuck it!

today, I’ve finally used the last 2m of it on a ‘sale’ sign that’s going to Eastbourne seafront, I’m so chuffed at finally getting shot of it that after the sign is delivered, i’m gonna buy an ice cold pint of Guinness and spend an hour on the beach… I might even take the rest of the day off!

    Lol!

I’d worry a bit about using material that old.
But…I just had to re-order a roll of caramel diarrhea brown that I’d special ordered for a job last year.
It was so ugly I was using it for paint mask and to cut patterns for the silk screener in the next town.
You guessed it….customer called and ordered more ugly colored signs. Now I have a huge roll of it again.
    Love….Jill

good point! will have to go to the club on saturday / sunday after all!

i’ll be watching the 1st team tomorrow down at the seaside too!

been a top year for our rugby club ( http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/uckfieldrfc/ ) as all three senior teams have been promoted this year, the first team unbeaten in around 30 games (league and cup). they’re also into the qtr’s of the jnr Vase cup, we play a London Squaddies team (tough game) in a weeks time, if we win that we’ll play the SW champs and from there, it’s Twickenham for the national final! i’m getting soooo excited!

it’s still sticky Jill! it’s also as orrible to weed, tears just as easy, and sticks as well as ever. its only on a sale sign that comes out every easter so no worries. prior to that it’s simply been used on short term stuff, even the odd banner, it’s never let me down but, I just hate the stuff!

Lol, I’d forgotten about that lot! Someone else had a load too if I recall, I’m glad I didn’t decide to keep it all as I’m still using a couple of odds / colours from that lot now. Not being a fan of lg I sold nearly all of it but, i used some of that aqua / turquoise the other day to flood a 4’sq panel! All the while it’s not in my way…… ! I’m prob down to less than 20m in total now!

same here Cheryl, seems silly not to use it when it’s only short term, I hate wasting anything that can be used -as every nook and cranny in my workshop is testament too!

i’ve been using up as much stock as possible this last couple of months as I need to move the workshop in the coming few months, it’s unbelievable just how much material i’ve accrued, none of it is ‘that’ old but there’s sooo much! normally i’d be ordering film at least once a week, in two months i’ve ordered only 4 lots! same with sheet material, all those dibond offcuts etc have been "just right", i’m stunned by it actually… it never normally happens to me, usually it’s a case of having a metre of film too short and having to get in another 5m etc; or, needing a 1200 x 1200 sheet and having only 1200 x 900, thus getting another sheet in and another offcut for the pile!

shouldn’t speak too soon though, lots of bitty jobs coming up so no doubt will not have what i need again!
