Window Graphics : Alive & Well
Posted by Bill Dewison on November 28, 2003 at 3:04 pmAs promised in the Say Hello forum a few examples of the stuff I do day to day. I mainly design logos for health & beauty businesses, but occassionally I dash across to another industry and dip a toe in the water.
All comments / praisings / crits / donations (cash only please) welcome 🙂
Cheers, Dewi

Thanks for sharing those with us Dewi
Were you involved in the actual applying of the graphics to the glass?
Great design by the way

Hi John,
I wasn’t involved in the application of the sign. I really wish I had been because I enjoy designing logos, but I never seem to get to do anything with them. Well other than collect a cheque in return 🙂 Often the logo gets farmed out to large commercial printers, or the client will employ a signmaker. One day that signmaker will be me, I hope.

Well now Dewi it is clear from your comments that the passion and desire along with intent to get involved in the sign making game is there
That I believe is the most essential ingredient
I don’t think it will be long before we will be seeing examples of your work on the board
So what are you waiting for?

Hi Gray,
Unusually I believe for a graphic designer I use Corel Draw rather than the Adobe collection. I use a brilliant clipart collection called Corel Gallery, but to be honest I can’t remember whether I got the original from there or whether it was off another clipart CD. I have quite a few others that have some good, some bad and some very ugly clipart on 🙂
What I tend to do is alter the original clipart to suit my needs. This eliminates the possibility that someone else will use the same clipart, as every designer has there own preferences/methods of adapting clipart. Originally I did do some freehand drawings for this job, which I’ve kept somewhere to remind me never to attempt it again 😳 It would be somewhat of an understatement to say I’m not the greatest freehand artist in the world 🙂
Cheers, Dewi

very nice work mate…
i tend to adapt clipart to suit myself also.
if i get somone in thats wanting something special i tend to try and come up with someone very original. the problem with signwork designing is the sign blank plays a big part on how the design will look..
for instance.. short company name.. on a long thin fascia.. arrgghh hate those ones 😕 😉
