  • Window Frosting letters coming off

Posted by Daniel Evans on August 16, 2018 at 1:25 pm

    Hi all

Had my customer email me yesterday saying that their opening hour letters are coming off. I did this in an air release frost material.

They went on fine and I took a look at it today it’s coming off due to the customer cleaning the windows but it’s only been on a few weeks and I would have expected more.

I don’t mind replacing it FOC but I can see this happening again, what can I do to prevent it?

Re-apply it with a different brand of window etch material? Then see if the problem happens again in the same way.

    Thanks Peter

I was thinking the same thing but with white vinyl.

    Don’t use bubble free adhesive

    As Ian says
Bubble free doesn’t like moisture when cut into small letters.
Give them a lesson in how to clean awindow without catching the edges. !
Depending on size is it possible to cover with a clear film?

Air release is not ideal especially when using for small lettering as there is so little adhesive touching the glass.

I would also make sure you clean the area with a degreasing cleaner to ensure everything is spotless before applying.

You should not use bubble free vinyl with small cut graphics, it’s only designed and good for big flat areas, but I personally do not like air frosted, you can actually see the channels from outside and putting big pieces on dry does not leave a good quality finish to the job, it’s so easy and just as quick to use normal frost vinyl and looks better when all finished
