  • William Smith Wrap Vinyl Prices.

Just had a look at their price list.

£500 for 25m of the 3m vinyl and the same again for the laminate. Does this sound right or am I looking at the wrong prices. Seems dear compared to most if I’m reading it right. 😕

    Hi Karl

I’ve left all my stuff in the office so I don’t have the price list to hand but I’m guessing your looking at the ij380 with 8580 overlaminate. It’ll be £500 for the kit not each. There’s actually more to add in the near future and some different prices to add as the ij380 is for the deep recesses where as there are other 3M alternatives for less challenging recesses. Feel free to give me a shout tomorrow and I’ll get you the details and up to date prices.

    Hope that helps

Started playing with Arlon Karl… not yet done anything with wrap just regular surfaces, pricing is better from WS on that stuff

    Hi Dave,
Not sure how good it is on deep recesses though mate. Got some samples off William Smith of the IJ380. Very nice to apply and wrap. Bloke up the road is wondering where this piece of vinyl has come from stuck to his van though! 😉

Karl, how did you get a sample from WS ?

I spoke to them last week and they said ‘sorry no, it only comes in a full roll’. When I explained that I was reluctant to spend 1k on the IJ380 without testing they said again ‘sorry but no’.
I left on email on the 3M website, they acknowledged my mail but then nothing.

Now looking at Metamarks MD7 for wrapping (deep recesses).

I am sure you will be able to get an A4 or larger of maybe solid colour wrap with the same adhesive system to the IJ, to have a play with…

This is were "open days" should be taken advantage of. Ive seen open days from Grafityp, 3M/Smiths, Wm Smiths, HP and so on all in the past couple of months. These open days aren’t all about getting you to buy a printer. you get a tour of the facilities, see lots of different kit under one roof, the different types of media, live demonstrations of said vinyls and the chanc to have a go with it whilst over seen by professional wrappers to advise you on.

don’t get me wrong, i know fine well we are all busy, i know location wise of some aren’t practical to nip out too and back. merely mentioning them as i see more and more open days dotted round the UK happening pretty regular.

Hi Rob, I’m not doubting the quality of 3M or the service WS give just want to try a piece of material using our Coloric ink which we can’t do at an Open Day.
This said, we might be in the process of changing ink type – slightly less aggressive {less solvent} which seems to be affecting our vinyl.

re Ink: that being the case, consider the Bio-Ink from colorific. ive been using it a few years now, not one single issue with the machine since.

    Hi John

I’m sure you can appreciate that we get requests for samples on a daily basis and unfortunately time has proved that on many occasions samples of digital will go out and on many occasions the customers put them to one side and weeks later cant remember which samples are which……..please don’t think I’m saying that would be the case with you but I can think of many occasion’s when I’ve popped into a customers sign shop to follow up a sample and they end up hunting through roll ends etc.

All of our products are sale or return so if you did decide to give it a go and found it didn’t print well then we would credit you but it is also very much in our interest to ensure that our products print well so we’d hope to work with you to get it right.

The best thing is to speak with your individual area sales person and they might be able to sort something, our website has all the contact details.

Karl’s samples were pre-printed from us so he could get a good feel for just how conformable the product is to ensure its the right one for the job.

    Hope that helps

I’m interested in the 3m IJ380 because there is no initial grab when it comes in contact with the vehicle. This has been one of my problems in the past as most of my work I’ve done by myself. It does do exactly what it says on the tin.
It may be a bit dearer than some but if it helps redoing a reprint due to it being easier for me to use then really it could work out cheaper and help get the job done that bit quicker. I’m pleased with the results and anyone thinking of giving it a go should try this one first. It saves a whole load of hassle. 😉

sorry steve, not having a go mate, i was meaning more "why?" is it Brilliant, what was easier about it than others you have tried. was it an easy apply air release type adhesive system etc etc etc
feedback is always welcome, but just a quick reply saying "dont try that its crap" or "do try this its brilliant" isnt enough, there needs to be a bit of feedback as to why you made the comment?

anyway, i am merely pointing this out as i have read in a couple of other threads you have made saying you are "having problems" and needing advice, but state your "using Hexis".
i doubt the vinyl is the problem in that case and i am not knocking hexis one bit, ive used their vinyls too without any problems. im just trying to make a point as to why i gave the reply i did earlier.
