  • Will I get paid if Donald Trump marries Hillary Clinton? asks the sign maker to the customer.

Posted by .News on February 12, 2017 at 10:38 pm

AN angry Sign Maker is using Raith Rovers and Donald Trump to try to shame a hotel into settling what he claims is an unpaid bill.

Sandy McLure reckons his sign-making business is still owed £750 by the hotel for signs, painting and stencils.
So Sandy made a sign to create a sarcastic quiz question which he then displayed in the window of his premises in Kirkcaldy, Fife.

The sign asked: “When will The Raven Hotel pay for their signs?”

Sandy then provided three possible answers:
    A) When Raith Rovers win the Champions League
    B) When Donald Trump Marries Hillary Clinton
    C) When we take them to court.”

The Raven Hotel, who insist they have paid the bulk of the bill and have offered to pay the remainder, say they are taking their own legal action.

Sandy, 66, has posted the image of his quiz sign on social media, where it has currently been shared over 300 times.

He claimed: “I did this from frustration after waiting more than three months to be paid for the work I have done.

“We only had seven days to complete the work in November. My staff did overtime and everyone rallied.

“The hotel is only 50 yards from my shop. I have hand delivered letters to the hotel and sent emails but didn’t get a response from them.

“I did get an email from them, after the quiz sign went in the window, saying if I took the sign down they would pay the rest of the bill but since they ignored my letters and emails I haven’t responded.”

He added: “I wanted to make the sign humorous instead of just stating someone owes me money. I’ve already planned the sign for next month.”

The Raven Hotel said in a statement today: “We have paid the bulk of Mr McLure’s sign.

“He did not respond to an offer to pay of the remainder. He has published an amount of lies and we have been asked not to comment by the company who owns the hotel as legal action is being taken.”

Not because of a debt, but don’t run a sign maker off the road.

It makes me sigh to hear the hotel people using a defence of "we paid the bulk of the bill" as though it is somehow the signwriters fault they haven’t paid the rest of it.

Bottom line is, the bill has not been paid in full. Yet they threaten to take legal action because the sign maker is telling others of this…
Why? Because it may do "their business" harm!
    It is a joke.

Not sure what legal action they could take, provided the sign company are 100% factual.

Customers do not realise that as a Sign Company we can create good and bad publicity for their business.
    Pay up or else.
Too often I am taken as a Bank or a business loan facility.
My normal take on this is, "If you have no signs, no one will know you are there = No Business"
