  • Wide-Format Printers – do they pay for themselves?

I’m seriously considering buying a wide format printer (either Epson 3000 A2 (reason for 3000 could always be converted for subli) – or maybe something A1).

It would be used mainly for posters, reproductions of our own digital photos etc.

Does anyone really make money on doing these type of things?

    All input greatfully accepted.

I’m still holding onto my PC60 though 🙂

Depends on the jobs you use them for.

Firms round here are charging as little as £12 each for 2 or 3 A0 posters. Even at a lower res, you’re still tieing up the machine for 20 minutes per poster.

    Very little profit in that.

However, use the beast for menu boards, window signs, vehicle graphics and other specialist stuff – well worth it.

We’ve just bought a mint second hand Epson 9000 for £2700. Should pay for itself in 2-3 months.

Wow, where did you find that!

It would mainly be for the car based items that I do, then sell them at the meetings held throughout the year.

I can do A3+ at the moment, but just wondered on the larger.

Suppose I could stick with the tile mural option, but get Car people to pay the price, may as well go looking for Broadband around here 😆
