  • why is vinyl not feeding through properly on cadet?

    Hi All.

A couple of times on my last few jobs the print head has struck the vinyl for a few passes.

I’m probably wrong but I don’t think the head is too low. It looks to me as though the vinyl isn’t being dragged through evenly. it looks like the rollers are forcing the edges of the vinyl inwards (towards the centre of the machine) which is making the centre of the vinyl lift up and touch the head.

The machine is in a seperate room to the rest of the unit and the vinyl just sits on the back of it on the roll feed so everything is the same temperature.

has anyone had any similar problems?

    cheers

very high humidity at the moment some backing papers are better than others prof is the first couple of turns off the roll are 1 to 2 mm wider than nearer the inner core.

    just a thought

I would say the same backing paper damp and the heaters warp it causing headstrikes.

I’m not sure about printing, but did you say you leave your roll of vinyl sitting on the rollers of your printer ? you should not leave vinyl on it’s side put lot’s of pressure on the underside 🙄 I think you should always remove it and stand virtically or on some sort of rack so it’s hanging from the middle of the core, your storage may not be your problem but I wouldn’t leave vinyl in that possition. jmho

stuart 😀 lynn could be right…the guy who installed my cadet told me to re-tighten the material before clamping it down everytime before u go to print…….cause it does wobble a bit..it has to be taut 😀

I would never leave the rolls on the machine just for reasons of dust which is digital print’s worst enemy.

Check that the feed roll is sitting exactly in line as it goes through. You can do this easily by taking up any slack and making sure the vinyl lies evenly by moving the roll side to side.
