  • why is the fill not showing in CorelDraw11?

Posted by Russell Pavey on August 5, 2006 at 12:05 pm

    Hi Guys

I’m having a bit of bother trying to fill an few letters that have been imported into Draw11 from AI. The thing I can’t work out is the letters won’t fill to the black colour I require but in the small outline and fill boxes in the bottom righthand corner they show that the colour is filled. I can change the outline colour fine.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Cheers

i got a few mins to kill, post it in file swap or design help & i’ll see if it’ll work in cdr12, then save as cdr11 for you.

It has probably imported with some open paths. Check your nodes to see if any need closing.

good point ! if that don’t work, you could follow andy’s usual advice, and punch the monitor in the face !

a little tip… when in the node editing tool, click on one of the nodes you have then press Home / End / Home / End / Home / End / Home / End / Home / End / Home / End … etc helps you find those damn tricky open bits in a shape, takes you from the start to the end node in the shape, just a case of joining them up from there.

Sounds like you have some open ends somewhere.
You could also select the object, go to the shape tool and click on "extend curve to close" on the top toolbar. It will close the object and you will be able to see where the open nodes are.

I’ll have to try Dave’s tip! Didnt know that one. Thanks!

    Thanks for the advice chaps.

It was just a case of going to arrange > close path option which worked straight away.

    Many thanks
