  • why is my laminator not powering up

Posted by Karl Williams on July 20, 2009 at 11:54 am

Can anyone throw any suggestions my way. I have an Artic Titan Laminator (Cold). The other day I was flood coating some boards when the thing just packed up part way through a job. Now It won’t boot up. I’ve checked the fuses…..all the connections inside on the switch……had the fuses and the switch tested. All the connections on the main board are secure. I’ve also tried 2 different power leads but still no results.
Just hoping there is a nice person reading this who can help!! 🙁

I’ve got 2 small light boxes near the Power point mate so tried these in the socket. These both power up so I’ve ruled that out.

So Karl you have mains to the switch and out from the switch?

Does this then go to a power supply that converts the AC to DC?

Which goes to the main board or is the power supply incorporated in the main board?

    Tim.

    Hi

If only a cold lam then would think there’s no dastardly electronics … so, as said could be power supply if it has one i.e. motor is not 240ac.

    Then to the motor

Does it had an illuminated panel, does this light

Only other thing which is decidedly possible is safety switch/es connections or switches themselves.

All sorted thanks guys. I checked the fuse next to the switch and they were ok. But I didn’t realise there was another fuse next to the main board. This one had blown. New fuse and hey presto we’re back in business!

    Thanks for the replies.

    Karl.

I think I spoke to soon! 👿 Fitted everything back together….booted up again and bang, the fuse went again.

does it go ‘bang’ when u ‘activate’ the rollers or when it is ‘idle’?

    Karl,

Check your rollers, if there is excess resistance, your motor will draw extra current and blow the fuse, could be time for a clean and lube 😮

Ive heard you like to grease your shaft :lol1: :lol1:

Dave, the first time I booted it up the casing and back was off. The power light came on no problem. When I put everything back together and went for the second boot up it went as soon as I turned it on.

Graeme………As for greasing my shaft……….you been spying on me again?? 😀 😀

    Thanks guys.
