  • why is my cadet not producing good quality printing?

    Hi Everyone

I know there’s a few of you who have had your machines for a while now, we have had ours for almost 18 months & have been really pleased with the quality of print up until 3 months ago when we started to notice banding on most colours which is defiantly getting worse even to the point where our regular customers are now noticing the difference.

We are using all the same settings, inks & media as before we have tried changing profiles, head cleans, soaks, checking dropouts but none of this makes any difference the only thing we can put it down to is that the print heads are deteriorating! but surely they should last longer than 15 months.

Just wondered if anyone else is experiencing the same problems or has any suggestions?

I think that this can be a problem with the solvent printers, also the heads are only guaranteed for so many drops so time is not an issue it’s how much work they have done.

I think there was another thread along these lines a few weeks ago.

    I Agree Steve

Time is not the issue we are only a small business & in 18 months we have probably actually only done 6 months of flat out work compared to some bigger companies that are using Cadet’s, that’s why I’m surprised that we are getting this problem, we really cannot afford to replace the heads yet.

    Thanks

do a test print – if all present and not misplaced stop worrying about the heads.

if you print bidirectionally then do a calibration and does the cadet have a environment test like its big brother.
material storage and other things do this

18months is when our first stripey prnt, think it is dampers yet to look at them (JV3 mimaki but uses the same heads). Deflection on our black is effecting most test print lines.

This is a fairly regular problem on the Cadet. The last time it affected me was after the bank holiday lay off. A head change always cures so get the guys in. Heads are included in the warranty and apparently B & P can clear some blockages with “special” solvents back at base. I presume this means they recycle heads.

Thanks for all your suggestions, We have tried absolutely everything & cannot get any better results that’s why I think it is more than likely the heads, when we look at some of our old work there is a huge difference, no way could we produce that kind of quality at the moment. It’s interesting to see that other people are having the same problem & think we should all pursue this issue, would any of us have bought a Cadet if we were told that every year or so the print heads would need replacing?

As for the warranty issue we decided against it because we are only a small business & the £995 seemed a lot of money at the time, were still paying for the Cadet!

Recently someone mentioned that the heads were made by Epson & could be bought in from the states, has anyone got any more info?

I don’t think buying in heads will be more economical in the long run than having a maintenance agreement.

According to B & P’s ad the £995 includes £745 of Uniform Product Vouchers. If that can be translated into ink then I’d say the Warranty cost is not too bad.

(They also say the response time is 8 hours – yeah, right!)
