Hi have just got Signlab 7.1 and have set up tool bars 4 times now and they disappear every time I restart the computer, apart from driving me mad is this normal? every other programe I have worked with they stay put. I have both customised the supplied bars and created new ones but same result…

    Thanks for reading

Make sure they are not floating, this was a problem with early builds, I’m on build 4, just tried and it seems to be fixed. To check your build goto help – about Signlab – press r for version information, if you are not on build 4 than updating may cure your problem.

Signlab questions can always be posted on the Signlab forum if local help is not available and I’d be surprised if it wasn’t sorted fairly quickly.

Still awaiting response from Cad link but on studying the forum it would appear that they have had this problem for some time but do not consider it a priority to solve it. I do find it frustrating that they charge top money for these programs knowing that they have faults!
Having said that I am very impressed with the rest of it and is a very good programe for what we do and a marked improvement on my Coreldraw. I will just have to learn all the hot keys!!!!!

Something like this was mentioned on the Signlab forum, another user suggested it was something to do with not having administrator rights on your computer as you need this to change registry settings. Just a thought

Hi Alan, yes I read that too but I am the administrator for this machine so it “should” be correct . What wonderful things computers are !!!!!!

Had a reply from Cadlink it would appear to be the problem of floating tool bars they have to be docked or they will go! By “docked” it means hard against the current tool bars not just in the area. Also if you move existing tool bars make sure they are docked or they might go as well.

Thats interesting (see reply 8th March) I’ll try this again because I thought that had been fixed when I tried it with build 4, anyway build 5 will be with us soon. There was a bit on the forum as well on how to get the toobars back if they did get ‘mislaid’ keep us posted how you get on.

They had this problem in 6 as well, I was a little miffed that they didn’t fix it in 6 never mind in 7!

I don’t feel that I’ll be sending any more of my money their way.

What I also find annoying is that they have known about this problem for some time but make no mention of it in the handbook ( which I find a bit thin to say the least ) and when you consider the cost I think they should be a bit more generous with the info. Does anyone know of any books that are available, I have checked the web but no luck yet.
I would have to agree with Peter Normingtons idea of a special forum on this site to cover these programs as there must be lots of info we can share.

Barry, just tried this again with new toolbar floating , and still there after signlab restart (not system restart try that later). I suppose it hasn’t been fixed earlier because time was spent fixing or developing something which effects more users, ie I have never used floating toolbars so I have never come accross it. Regarding a forum for SL, yes why not but there is one already on Cadlink’s site and questions are answered by other users and Cadlink staff.

Hi Alan, I have just re started my system and the bars have remained!!!!
I loaded this program onto two laptops when I got it and have just compared the toolbar set up in both machines, the working tool bar on the original set up has 18 tools on it ,on the machine I use constantly and have had the problem with this toolbar now has 4 of the original tools so why/where they went pass!!! I also set up 2 extra toolbars on the main machine and they have gone completely! Very odd!! Lets hope they all stay put from now on.

    Thanks for your help.
