usually happens when there’s a crease in the vinyl causing a jam or something that is stopping the vinyl feeding through.

to start with ,after designing a job on the screen, i place it on the sheet grit ready to be cut, turn on the motoh, feed it with the colour i want & after the mutoh will perform the what i call the setting dance, then i will do the page set up & click on the design that i want to cut & press cut.
The cutter some times it will just stop & all the lights will start flashing & some times it will stop half way.
I tried cleaning the optical lenses & used a 1000mm x610mm piece of vinyl to prevent drag, tried lowering the acceleration & speed.
& on my manual there is no troubleshooting section.

    regards

not used Easy sign but a couple more questions?

Have you had the cutter working, has the fault just occurred

What port set up are you using USB, parrallel or serial

Are you using the an original Mutoh lead.

Does Easy Sign have a dedicated driver for the Mutoh or are you using a generic one.

My opion would be to look for a communication fault to start with, does the cutter do a self test cut.
Do you have the manual as a quick read on the Mutoh website states there are different default settings to marry up with different software. It may be a case of trying each set up.

Hope this is of some help

When someone tells me a cutter stops midway in a job my immediate suspision is he is plotting serial and has the wrong Handshake.
With the wrong handshake, the plotter cant tell the computer to stop sending data when it buffer is full.

    Are you cutting Serial?
If so, go to the Ports Icon in Windows Device Manager.
Check properties of both Com1 and com2
Make sure Handshake is set to either Xon/Xoff or Hardware.
(actually check that it matches the handshake that the cutter is set to)
Both Windows XP and 2000 default to a Handshake of NONE
None will cause cuts to die in mid cut depending on the size of the job.

If it screws up Sometimes at the start, sometimes in the middle. I might suspect loose cable.

    If USB, differant ballgame.

You might also have it set to "pause between pages"

Hi frank , I checked the communications & all seems correct,It is still not cutting or stopping half way & all the lights will start flashing.
It is also not performing the test or stops half way.

make sure you have the left hand gripper locked in
-it won’t know the page size otherwise

also, they sometimes get confused -so set the cutting head back to front right and ‘origin’ then ‘enter’

also if it stops half way it means the sheet length has been used
-i think its 25 metres top whack
-so if you are cutting something at 30
    -do it in 2 bits

Thanks for the interest & i appreciate yourself trying to help.
More than a month ago, got in touch (throu someone from this site)with AD Young & spoke to a very help full woman (Zoe) ,4 days after that i had a technician at my place and after a fast test he said ,it is the motor!!!
He was spot on and now i am back on track.

Also of interest,The same company offered me an insurance,so if any thing goes wrong, they will fix it for free. (not including wear & tear items)

    Thanks to all again
