  • why do i have problem with Corel x3 colour swatches?

Posted by Barbara Eden on May 22, 2008 at 7:39 am

Good morning-well it was until I tried to create RGB colour swatches to print onto fabric for a Sublimation chart.

I ran a VBA thing -don’t know what I’m talking about here-just following instructions!! All fine-with all RGB values under each colour swatch.

But once I’ve saved the file, when I open it again all the values have changed – what good is that 🙁 🙁 🙁

I have 2 computers, one in my ‘office’ and one in my workroom (not networked) I have the same problem with both-and with all swatches.

Have updated SP’s etc, but still no joy.

    Any ideas anyone – please 🙂 🙂 🙂

is your colour profile settings matched between corel draws?

    Tools Menu / Colour Management

I run mine on Default Settings and CMYK mode

I must admit I just made an RGB colour and messed about with the settings and the colour remained.

I have just repeated this but just re-opened the file on the same computer. I used the palette "rgbstd / Uniform Colours" and it coloured it with the RGB values and when I exited and reopened it, it substituted it to the palette names. Strange behavior but the values are correct when you examine the colour.

Hi Dave, thanks for the response 🙂 I have different colour management on each machine. One is set up with the Artanium profile and the other (this one) is set at the default.

When I run the colour swatch – I’ve tried default RGB and Uniform the values in the status bar are the same as the values under each colour swatch. But once it’s been closed and re-opened they’ve all changed 😕

I even spent hours at the week end changing all the written values to the ones in the status bar – only to find they’d all changed again once it had been saved!!

Maybe I should just print it off instead of saving it- but puzzling just the same!

ah ok.. so you have been altering the palettes.,, that make sense… it still should be the correct RGB values and maybe matching against a different pallette.

I once made a Avery 2000 pallete in Corel, however I notice that if i have two identical values e.g "Black" which is made up of 100%K, then I have to make Avery Black 99%K as I cant have a name for a colour twice.

I hope that make sense… i wouldn’t bother with renaming the colours or using the label system, its a bit naff.
