have you tried re-booting the computer?

sometimes things like this are just glitches and restarting helps wipe it..

Try importing the file rather than opening. Ive not come across this myself with Signlab but this does sometimes help with Corel Draw files (might be worth noting for future reference)

Why would it come up with an error of “cannot open” when you are saving , it should come up with something else. See if you can export the file from Signlab as an EPS or so.

We just cut and paste from Corel to signlab instead of opening or importing. Im not a signlab fundi , is it better to Import rather than cut and paste?

my guess is that it can not open its back up file to save the old before saving the new try changing names and dir. to get it out of the loop.

The only ways you should be able to get that message are
    1: c: drive is full,
2: you are saving to the root directory of C drive and are exceeding the max number of files allowed in the root directory
3: You are modifying/saving a Read Only file.

Check to see if the file allready exists and with Explorer/Properties, see if there is a checkmark in Read Only. If there is , just remove it.
Maybe you copied files from a CD to the C drive with explorer.
If you copy files from a CD, they are Read Only and you need to change it manually.

    Hope it helps.
