  • why are the colours wrong when i start cadet up please?

Every morning when I start up my Cadet, the colours all wrong.

When I do a test print, the cyan, black and magenta fire fine but the yellow
is 90% missing. I have to do at least 5 powerfull headcleans to get the thing firing.

Anyone else one got this problem (?)

Dave have a look around the pump to see if you have a pinhole in one of the pipes ie. ink around the pump, i had this problem and used to have to do numerous head cleans then it would sort of self heal then low and behold next morning the same headclean headclean got fed up in the end thought the head had gone got a techy in and he spotted the pipe had gone £50 to fix.

I am probably wrong and its something far more trivial/serious 😕

    Hi,

It may be the little flat ink collector just above the head.. they are simple to replace.. it was the seal in the bottom that fits on the manifold that hardens up and allows the ink to drain back.

    Cheers

It could be a faulty damper – especially if the head cleaning stops curing the problem after a while

If it was a JV3, I would have said pumps!

5 cleans a day? B & P will love you pouring all that ink away!

    My thoughts:

3 colours are OK therefore its not the pump.
Cleaning clears the yellow therefore its not the head
Magenta is OK and as the feeds to the same head as yellow, its not the capping station.
This leaves the ink feed to the head. If the feed pipe is full of yellow and coming down OK, it is the yellow manifold which may have a problem. There have been problems with these including the wrong type being fitted and the O ring being damaged by the ink.

Thanks for all you comments and thoughts 🙄

Checked all I can for leaks etc but to no avail.

I think it may be because we have just put through 400m of print in the last 10 days and I think its just tired, like me.

I’m taking the day off on friday (Tatton Flower Show) so it will give the machine a rest. Will try again on Monday and if it’s the same, then I’ll call out an engineer or (:) the ruddy thing.
