  • why am i getting a ‘caught exception error -6’?

Posted by Arthur Raynor on May 9, 2008 at 9:09 am

Using Flexisign Pro 8.1 and while trying to RIP & Print, I am now suddenly getting a ‘caught exception error -6.
This just started 2 days ago.
Only happens when I use my HP Z2100 wideformat printer.
I can print as normal but cannot use RIP and Print.
Error message only happens with the HP Z2100 and not with my other 3 Xerox printers.
Have reinstalled Flexi with no luck.
Flexi email support suggested in flexi edit menu> preferences> tools tab> select rip/print on the left> uncheck connect to Production Manger using tcp/ip. That did not help. They also suggested clearing Prefs. but I am not sure how/where to do that.
    Help!

By way of a further update, I installed my Flexi on my wife’s laptop and it works fine.
Does the RIP & Print with no problems.

go to start … all programs….SA produciton suite.. preferance manager.

select factory settings then click load.

clearing preferences has worked for me on another issue i had. everyone says it helps alot.

    worth the try.

That did not work but I solved the problem (after a few months.
I had TCP/IP selected in the use Production Manager preferences.
I connect via USB so when I created a new setup for my printer and selected USB instead of TCP/IP for Production manager, I can now Rip and print and no longer get the exception error.

Have you tried reinstalling the rip?

I did that in my early troubleshooting.
But as I mentioned in my last email yesterday…the problem is solved.

    Thanks
