  • why after re-installing do i still not have a smart bar?

Posted by Maureen Ellis on February 16, 2005 at 8:55 am

Following on from our conflicts with Illustrator we have managed to lose our smartbar. We have uninstalled Illustrator and Signlab and then reinstalled Signlab only – but still no smartbar…………………..
    Any ideas ?

Go to view tab – toolbars, are they ticked?. On the rare occassions Signlab has gone t*ts up the toolbars get switched off here.

Must admit never had that go missing. I know with some programmes after a uninstal a folder has still remained, I have manually deleted that, rebooted then installed. This has cured problems but I’ve never had to do that with Signlab. Did you create a restore point before installing Illustrator?

its a dockable tool bar. did you move it off to the right or left edge of the screen or move it to the bottom.

If you enjoy editng the registry and are stumped.
    If you want run Regedit
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER
    SOFTWARE
    CADLINK
    SIGNLABx
    and delete the TOOLBARINFO key

Thank you Frank – We came up with an answer eventually through trial and error as none of the experts seemed to be able to help- We uninstalled Signlab and then we removed all signlab files within the registry and re installed – everythings back to normal . We used a registry cleaner software package called Clean my Pc and this solved the problem rapidly- its something we downloaded off the internet for £20 good value really !

That is another way to cure it.
But the x/y locations of all the bars are stored in those registry settings i mentioned. Delete the registry key and all the toolbars revert back to thier default settings and locations.

Personally i hate dockable toolbars. I want things to stay exactly where i expect them to be. Unfortunatly most people thing they are the greatest thing sinse sliced bread.

Personally frank I like customisable floating tool bars, something that signlabs has yet to master 🙂
