    Hi all,
does anyone know who supplies these light boxes that hold the edge lit perspex?

ideally to hold 8 or 10mm
I dont even know what the light boxes for them are called, I just know I need some.
    Thanks

Thanks but they only seem to sell the kits, which already include the acrylic, and knowing appleelec prices they will be more than I was hoping to charge for them to the end user.
I can always ask I suppose.
    Cheers

Carl or if you really want to wind him up CARLOS ( he’ll know straight away who told you that) is a good lad,
Spray the bar yourself, color match car paint from halford’s or any good motor-factors etc and a can of etch primer, £10 at most

I was going to use a roller and a 1.5L tin of cheap emulsion, you think spraying is better?

Steve, without etch priming aluminium your cheap emulsion would last about a week!

I was actually joking as well, not sure if that was detectable in text, while I was typing it I was THINKING sarcasm though, does that count?
Im stupid in a childish way, not in a, "paint expensive aluminium extrusions with vinyl silk" type way:lol1:

Anyway all thanks for the info, Applelec was by FAR the cheapest, in fact everyone else was double the price for the extrusions and that’s without acrylic.
I asked Applelec for prices on 300x300mm acrylic, 500×300 and 700×300 sizes respectively in 10mm and was quoted £35, 50 odd and 70 odd quid for flame polished acrylic pieces.
I phoned Amari in Plymouth , and got a 1500×1020 10mm offcut sheet all cut with those pieces & duplicates therof, and about 10 more smaller sizes for £54 plus vat, all I have to do is polish the edges
    Pays to shop around eh?

Remember DON’T clean with meths (hot) after polishing if using a flame

Thanks Fred, already aware of it thanks to the other various warnings but thanks for the info.
Incidentally my first go at flame polishing went pretty well, got nice clear edges I got it a little too hot in a couple of places but hardly noticeable.
but overall a good result, got plenty of practice bits as Mark from Amari cut my offcut into about 5 bits so I wont be mamking any expensive mistakes.
I bought that Bernzomatic micro flame that was posted on another forum

Hi Steve – We work with this stuff extensively in Canada and in most cases you can have it shipped to Europe and still be cheaper than many of the local or European suppliers… with equal or better quality.

Let me know if you’d like me to get some additional info.

The samples never arrived Marko, I emailed you a few times too but heard nothing back, so got all my stuff from applelec

Thanks Zmo but I think Canada is a bit far to have stuff shipped from with returns and communication etc.
