  • Who supplies clear static cling material?

Posted by Marcella Ross on April 6, 2006 at 7:42 pm

Who supplies clear static cling material? I’m looking for clear material that is suitable to put vinyl text on reverse for a rear windscreen. Customer wants something removeable so that the name and number is only on the car when she’s working.

    thanks,

    Marcella

Hi think Hexis do it – I take it the plan is to print onto it?

    No Dawn… it’s just being vinyled, it’s only a name and number… and there’s only 2 needed!

I take that kebabbed eyeball is causing you problems …… :lol1:

If you go to http://www.hexis.co.uk it is in their price list. I’ve never used it personally, but no doubt others out there have.

    Marcella

I’ve just found another post which says the Europoint stock it so you could contact them tomorrow. I’m just wondering, though, how well it will survive being regularly applied and removed.

spandex do it have only printed on it haven’t put vinyl on but I can’t see why it wouldn’t work on a stationary vehicle, a bit off the wall but would ordinary cling film work 😳

    thanks.

nik – you’re probably right about the minimum order knowing my luck! 😕

I’ll give them a bell tomorrow. I take it this stuff is suitable to put a vinyl telephone number on?

i have a roll here !!! i got it cos a customer wanted to have self cling stickers, soo, i stuck vinyl to the rear of it, cut in reverse, but you try getting the app tape off without stretching the stuff, it doesnt cling to its liner very well ! i told the guy it wasnt worth doing, though i gave him a price, just found it very awkward, maybe i’ll have another play at it, i dont recall if i wet the app tape,

so far as i know, it’s only really meant for printing onto.

you were right enough Nik. Europoint sell windowstick which is fine for applying vinyl to, as they told me. But minimum order of 50 sheets at 700 x 1000mm 😕 Not too expensive but it’s not something I’m likely to use for a long time again. 1/2 sheet would do me so I’d have a shed load of it left over. I doubt my customer would want to pay for 50 sheets just to have their number on their rear windscreen.

I’ll try somewhere else that’s been recommended.

    Marcella

Did you find out whether it would stand up to being constantly applied and removed?

I’d already told my customer that it wasn’t really recommended that it’s removed and applied constantly. But she’s only likely to remove it when her hubby is driving her car. She’s not too concerned.

I can’t remember who I got mine from, either Grafityp or Victory Design, only got 5m, wasn’t expensive either.

Update: Just looked at roll, it’s on a Victory tube, so I guess that’s where it came from!

    Hi Marcella

What about a more rigid sign and suction cups???

    Just an idea if it’s a 1 off……..

    Tim.

It’s a very small part of a small job anyway Tim. i doubt it’d be worth it.
It’s one of ‘those’ jobs. Only reason I’m bothering with it is because she and her hubby are regular customers. It’s always small jobs, but fairly frequent.
I’m sure she’ll settle for what i offer her! 😉
