  • Who’s moved from Ecosolvent to Latex?

I’ve been looking very closely lately, at the HP 330 Latex printer. I’ve been for a demo etc. This would be to replace my Roland SP540i machine.

The quality of the latex machine seems superb, and being able to apply instantly, plus the durability are the main selling features, for me. Just wish it had a cut facility. Not 100% whether ink prices are actually cheaper, or more expensive.

We would have liked a flat bed machine, as that would have been perfect for us (we do a lot of correx boards for estate agents, residential and large commercial boards) but the costs, including monthly service costs- were just too high 🙁

Has anyone here moved to a Latex machine? Just wondered how you are finding it?

    Hi

We have both Roland eco-solvent and a Latex 360. The latex (& Onyx) isn’t quite as easy to live with as the Roland (& Versaworks) and it has little quirks you just get used to but the print quality is simply superb (even at faster speeds). For wraps they are unbeatable. The only downside is that we can’t get super vibrant reds or 100% pure bright yellows off the latex – not that its bad and has never been a real issue for any customer but our Roland just gives better reds/yellows when the design has big slab areas of these colours. However, getting gray scale prints without green/red/lavender colour shift is easier on the latex

Overall we like the latex best – the quality is fantastic and it never misses a beat – always leaving full rolls on as we go home and find them perfect next day. That said our Roland is a reliable workhorse that just keeps on earning money!

    Cheers
    Macky

We have a slightly different dilema, we have a Roland XC540 and thinking of either an HP360 or a Mimaki JV300-160?

For me it was a decision between HP310 for instant dry prints or Mimaki CJV150 with better gamut range.
I chose the HP and never looked back, amazing consistent quality and when things go wrong with a fitting job or someone needs something in a hurry. I can print, laminate and cut the same day.
In response to the reds and pure bright yellow, by experimenting with Colour management options in Onyx I’ve managed to get pure bright yellow and better reds, just as good, if not better than my previous Roland and Mutoh eco solvent printers.
Also the control panel on the printer is so more advanced than Mutoh,Roland,Mimaki.
Only thing that takes longer for me is loading material. The front loading system isn’t full proof and takes practice.
