Who can recommend a cheap vinyl for house windows ?
Posted by Matt Pike on September 24, 2010 at 3:15 pmHowdy folks 🙂
Right heres an unusual one.
I recently moved into a flat, sat at the pc the other day in me pants as ya do, something draws my attention to the living room window and a woman is stood staring at me outside my flat with her dog !
Very annoyed, cant even sit in me own flat in privacy.
So .. I am looking for some cheap vinyl that will give me some privacy but not block out too much light and I wouldnt mind entertaining something a bit snazzy, i.e. a colour or pattern etc but I’d be happy with just a one way smoke.
Does anyone know what I need to be looking for in order to achieve this ?
Many thanks.
Matt 🙂

What she was doing is called ‘dogging’, you may have moved into a hotspot.
But in all seriousness, i had the same trouble in my flat. I live on the top floor, three floors up and we always had the window cleaners who used those big poles with brushes on top, so they would always do it from the floor and never come up to the upper level windows.
So i’m use to being able to do whatever i like up there without anyone seeing.
Until one day in the summer it was hot so i was going about in my boxer shorts. I was carrying a mannequin across the living room, actually with another pair of pants on my head to keep my hair out of my face. Then all of a sudden up pops a ladder to the window (they must have got a new window cleaning company) and a man appears at the window.
So i must have looked a bit strange to him.
All i did was put some net curtains up, you can get some quite plain ones, not like the ones nans have.

I would use some window frost and neatly etched in very very small letters right in the middle "**** off you nosey git!" would probably cost less than a set of net curtains if you did it yourself! 👿

Cheers for the, er, replies guys :lol1:
I got some awesome blinds up at the windows but when I open them peeps can see in, I want some flim on the inside of the windows that let light in but from the outside you cant see in, any ideas ?

Frost or etch vinyl would let the most light in and block the view both ways.
Cut any pattern you want in it.Silver Reflective window film would stop someone looking in during daylight hours yet allow you to see out. However this will only work during the day and the one way effect would reverse at night.

Thanks for the info there Stuart 🙂
Theres a government building in town which has window film in all the windows its like a smoked film, I’ll check out etch vinyl see what I can find.

I forgot to mention… this ‘woman’ is about 28stone and has major body odour issues and is banned from the local tescos supermarket and her nickame round ere is skidmark, reason for that is she was playing pool at local pub and when she bent over to take a shot, well, you can imagine the rest.
If it were a fit bird mind I wouldn’t mind, but I dont want ‘skidmark’ gettin an eye full :lol1:

If you really want to win this woman’s heart, playing hard to get aint gonna work. You need to make a bit more effort if you’re going to woo her
You need to sell yourself a bit more. Convince her that you’d be a good catch. I suggest you give your room a good clean (get rid of the take away cartons and empty Lager cans), before flashing at her again.
And count yourself lucky that she didn’t call the police the last time you exposed yourself to her 😕

That’s why I’m on this forum Phil…Great response!
2 way smoke is the way to go, but as said earlier, it does work to opposite way in the dark.
