  • Which vinyl cutter for MAC ?

I’m new on these forums, so Hello everyone!

    I’m looking for some advice,

I’m in the market for a vinyl cutter that is compatible with a MAC. I don’t want to spend the earth but obviously am after something of reasonable quality. I am a bit overwhelmed as there is so much choice..

Google searching for MAC compatible vinyl cutters brings up the Foison C24 USB cutter using the sign cut x2 software. This seems to be a good price, does anyone have any experience with these ? or any other reccomendations?

    Many thanks Steve.

I always use the Summa range, virtually indestructible and good cutting results, I wouldn’t scrimp on a cheap cutter that you’ll have to replace a year down the line! At the moment I use a D750 and a S75.

    Hi S,

I bought a Graphtec FC8000-60 last year, and seems to work really well with my MAC, using Illustrator and cutting master, which came with the cutter.

Hi there, you’ll find that you will receive more replies if you say hello in the relevant section and tell us a little bit about yourself.

Welcome aboard, we are completely MAC based.

    Regards

All decent cutters will work with a mac,
its down to software that operates them.
if you run a mac then illustrator with a plug in for the plotter is the usual way to go.

    Hi Jason,

Not sure if you were suggesting to S Munro to say hello in the relevant section or myself, mind you, being that I am new also, perhaps not a bad idea for me to say hello also.

Hi ‘both’ that’s the usual and it’s always good to have a little background so that we can advise in context.

I agree with Peter, you can use a Mac with most machines, we drive our Graphtec and Roland Vinyl cutters using Macs although our digital printers are run by PC’s.

You should experience no problems with the Graphtec provided you have a vector based graphics package.
