    Hi all,
I am trying to decide on a cutter – at the moment I am trying to decide between the Roland CX24 and the Summa D60 SE. I need to have the crop registration detection system as I will be using the cutter to cut images from sublimation paper.

The Summa D60 SE (with OPOS) costs £1666 while the Roland CX24 costs £1266.. (www.selectstore.biz)
Does anyone have any ideas as to if the Summa is worth the extra £400.

    Thanks… Moss.

Hi! I have a Summa D-60 and I’m gonna tell you…it’s well worth the extra money…before I got my machine I did a large research on cutters…
and the Summa in my opinion is far better than the Roland…tracking is a dream…
That’s not all…it’s very precise when cutting…I have being using mine for about a year…and couldn’t be any happier…
One other thing that you must take into consideration…I have the Summa D-60, and now the one you’re looking at (D-60SE)is even nicier than the one I’ve got…one step above it…
Check around, and you’ll see that everyone who owns Summa is happy with it.
    Have fun,

Perfectly happy with mine too… tracks and cuts very well… and only took about 5 minutes to get it all working out of the box 😀

    Buy the Summa… NOW 😀

after reading this post i wondered why my graphtec plotter couldnt do the same thing as the summa & the roland… i have a roland 48inch also & didnt realise this function came with it… i emailed graphtec yesterday asking about this, because its handy to know as we have just bought a wide format printer and laminator. (stand by machine i mean)
anyway.. to my surprise i was told that the whole graphtec range do come with this option, aswell as the lazer/led positioning guide which i have at the moment.
they also went on to point out to me how accurate the graphtec alignment system is compared to others. from what i am told, you have to be wary of some auto detect systems as they fail or are inaccurate when finding the registration marks through laminated prints. 😕

just something to check on when asking about these extras, how accurate they actually are? 🙄

on a different note, i have heard from folk on this site in the past that the summa cutters are very good also.
