Which roland? VSi or LEC??
Looking to add white to our inkjets. This will be used everyday and we would like to print on transparent in colour, backup in white and print on top of the white so it is a double sided decal.
Are there advantages to the LEC for this type of job or would the VSi suffice?

I run roland white what you are thinking will not work on the vs the vinyl will be a soggy mess to try to handle the white is just not opaque enough
Would have thought the edge could do it
Can’t comment on the uv lec would need to go to Rolands and prove it

Thanks Chris, the Edge is okay but not for the level of detail I need plus the extra size would be good. Would it be possible with a drying unit? Or pausing before re-printing?

would be an absolute pig to apply, i fitted graphics which where printed & backed up with white ink and it was a nightmare. The time to do the print & out gas took ages so for you to do it twice would be ridiculous. I would make some time to go down to Roland Cleveland or one of their other demo suites with files & try out a LECKev

Could you not reverse print on the clear then laminate with white vinyl then print again not mirrored to produce the double sided sticker. You can also get opaque light block vinyl for this we produce some like this on our xr640 takes a bit of time but would be better than printing white as its not opaque enough.

Lee how are you managing to register the second side other than just setting a Base point and aligning the front edge
With my old sc540 and colour rip I can do it well but not with the vs and vw -
That’s too long for me especially when I have 2000 to do every week 🙂 I can combo it through the edge and inkjet but was looking for a more automated process.

It’s a bit of messing around but get good alignment
You need two images of the same dimensions one if its the same image on both sides reverse print on clear the first image with print cut alignment mark allow to dry and out gas before laminating with white cover the alignment marks with masking tape as this make it easier to un-cover them later. Laminate with block out white vinyl then cut out the masked printout alignment marks and reload in to your printer.
Change the setting to cut only with the alignment marks still on, and set return to origin after cut. Remove the blade holder so it does not cut!
After it has finished cutting it will return to the origin and be aligned replace the blade holder. Make sure you use the same layout settings as you did for the reverse print but remove the print cut alignment marks and do not mirror if using the same image then print and cut we always allow a drying time before cutting and there you have it double window stickers.
I hope this helps we have done quite a few this way and it works really well with aligning them. As I said a bit time consuming though.

Chris, spoke to Roland today and they don’t have an LEC in their showroom. I’m going to start a new thread regarding the LEC and feedback now.
