I am getting rid of my rabbit plotter/cutter and thinking of buying something that works properly.

What make and model plotter/cutter would you recommend buying I need something that will cut shapes and text out perfectly so when weeding it will pull off in one movement, Also something with a decent memory so I can cut a big job at once with-out it crashing. We used to use a mimaki at the last place I worked and it had a plug in for illustrator called fineCut or something? I would be looking to cut from illustrator with a new plotter.

Any suggestions on where to buy this model from?

    any ideas; Thanks

I have a graphtec and have only ever used this machine.

It’s not a very busy I have to say, but it has never let me down.

It just keeps working without any maintenance (touch wood).

The only thing I do is keep it covered in the plastic film it came in when its not actually cutting, I was told by a service engineer to keep the dust out of it, especially the beam the blade head runs along.

mimaki graftec mutoh summa signpal all make good plotters, you dont need any off them with extra memory, they will run happily from your pc, whilst you do something else (most vector files are relatively small anyway)

Yes fine cut will run the mimaki through illustrator, but it is exlusive to mimaki, most plotters will have a plug in that will cut from a graphics prog though,

What would you say about the roland Camm 1pro I found it in the ‘grafityp’ brochure. would this work with illustrator? Would it be best to buy it directly from roland rather than somewhere else? Last question, Would you reccomend buying the 700mm max width or 915mm or 1372mm? There’s a massive difference in price. Thanks
