  • which ink should i use in my cadet please?

I’m just about to take delivery of my first solvent printer…a Cadet 30". I work from home on a part time basis and don’t feel a full solvent ink would be very suitable at home. I have been offered the option of CitroSol (Uniform) or EcoSol Max (Roland). It is coming with Troop RIP if that makes a difference.

    Any info would be appreciated.

EcoSol Max inks from Roland every time.

Check you can get suitable profiles for your materials to match Troop/Wasatch. If not, get a copy of Versaworks – Roland should oblige – and flog your copy of Troop.

There’s been lots of threads about the Cadet to Versacamm "conversion" back. They are worth reading.

out of interest how much do Roland charge for a copy of versaworks or do you just have to own a Roland printer.

    Thanks

    Russell.

I’m pretty sure you cant use Versaworks seperately from a Roland printer as it looks for the printer when it loads up, and wont work if it cant detect it.

That’s right, Versaworks uses the printer in effect as a dongle. You need to know which Roland VersaCAMM your Cadet is based on. I assume you are buying a second hand machine so you need to know if it was an SP-300 or SP-300V engine. The "V" version will work with Versaworks the non "V" version will not. For either model of SP-300, if you go for the Roland Eco-sol Max inks you can download all the profiles you need form the Roland web site to work with the Troop V5 or later RIP.

Sorry maybe not to clear, I have a Uniform printer running Troop RIP. I wanted to know how much Versaworks is to buy from Roland or is it free as it can only be used with Roland printer which mine is as it states at start up sj740.

    Many thanks

    Russell.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you Russell.

If it is an SJ-740 it will not work with Versaworks. If it is an SJ-740EX it will work with Versaworks which you are licensed to use it at no cost. If you are not sure which model, let me have the serial number and I will find out for you.

Which version of Troop are you using?

    Simon,

It is sj740 not an ex model, so no versaworks for me then, the version of Troop i have is 6.3

    Many thanks

    Russell.
