Which Fabric Vinyl
Posted by Iain Gordon on August 18, 2005 at 9:51 pmHi Gang,
My lad wants me to sort his rugby team out with names on their shirts.
I have never done this and wondered if it would be possible to apply with a household iron. Also which vinyl/supplier would you suggest?
Thanks
Iain

Don’t go there with an iron Fred 😕
Thousands of people with heat presses will be most disapointed.
On the other hand, give it a go and let us know how it turns out. Could be interesting.
I’ve always been told you had to do it using a heat press but you never know, maybe someone else on the boards will be able to be more help.
Good Luck.

Hi Iain
check these 2 out for starters.
http://www.thetransferpress.co.uk
http://www.xpress.co.ukyou can buy small amounts and it’s easy to apply.
I’ve used an iron before and it worked ok. I covered the transfer with waxed paper so that it didn’t burn the garment. I use the waxed backing paper off some old vinyl.
I’ve got a heat press now, and still use the backing sheets from old vinyl. Works a treat. Saves mony too !!
Cheers,
Cheryl 🙂

You can also try Victory Designs …… the material weeds very well. Graphityp is another and they have a link on the homepage here.

I recently done the t-shirts for a mates stag do with grafityp’s garment film.
Applied with an iron, worked fine.
