  • Which Eco Solvent Printers Don’t Use Epson Print Heads?

Posted by josephfrancis on February 5, 2012 at 12:08 pm

Hello if you know of a printer that does not use epson print heads could you please add the model by replying to this thread.

With printers the biggest cost is the print heads and for some time I successfully got away with using a Converted FJ50. A bit slow but worked like a charm. Now I have been informed these print heads (DX2) are no longer being supplied to my Victorian Based supplier her in Australia and teh prices have increased from $110 to $300. Only place available is on ebay and I think these are no longer made.

So I am on the lookout in discovering other printer options.

I own a small shop and don’t have enough work to purchase a $15,000 printer.

If you can help that could be great.

    Thank You

    Joe

i also heard that the DX2 was out of production it has been about for a very long time.

i don’t know of any printer except more exotic ones that don’t use epson heads as i understand it its down to the way the head pumps the ink out and to be able to do higher resolutions above 600 dpi

other makes of heads at the time were HP etc. which were called bubble jets because they boiled and spat the ink (water based) solvent would not do this.

as i have had to do with my old PC60 thermal printer was buy a few spare heads as available and when they are gone its dead.

Hi Chris yep I am in the same boat. Will see if I can get this going and hopefully it will last me another 12 months. By then printers will be more affordable and hopefully more latex printers hit the market.

The best thing about the HP Latex is the cost of the heads.

    Thanks Again for your help.

DX4 is also starting to shows signs of ‘exclusive lists of engineers’, these are in most of the popular printers throughout the last 10 years.

HP Latex can be purchased for $15K if you do your home work. The print heads are consumables as it should be!

HI Dave thanks for your reply.

If I invest in another printer it must have affordable print head purchasing options and the signs need to last about 3 years outdoors.

Yes a great option is the HP Latex and hopefully a larger range of printers becomes available in the future that either use latex or sepiax inks.

As we light use at present, print a day… i have yet to replace a print head since September.

Hi Dave I think if you print at that rate using the HP you may end up changing the head once every year or so.

Thanks for your input and feedback.
