  • Which circular saw to buy? Opinions please….

    Hi everyone

My Zapkut should arrive tomorrow, and I still haven’t bought a saw to go in it.I need a saw that cuts 184mm-190mm, with a 30mm bore.
Looking at either a Hitachi or Bosch, from Screwfix. Is there anything else I should be considering before placing an order?
I’m looking at spending around £120 – £150, should this cover it, do you think? (Cutting Composite only).

    Thanks
    Lorraine

    Hi Lorraine
I don’t think you should have any issues with any of the branded saws.

We have a Makita which we are going to use. We also have a negative rake blade which we were advised to get at the time we bought the saw for cutting plastics, I don’t know if these are totally necessary but it may be worth looking at the cost of these too as I am pretty sure we paid around £70 for the blade alone.

Hope that this helps a tad.

    Cheers

    Gary

That’s an interesting bit of kit but cutting an 8 x 4 length ways is going to need nearly 17 feet of clear space if I’m not mistaken.

When I was talking to the zapkut guy at the show he said that the price included a DeWalt saw.

As to the space issue, they had a wall mounted saw that looked very good and should be on sale soon, it also accepted a router so it would be great for making trays
