  • which blade do i use for a graphtec cutting reflective?

Posted by popcornpro on November 19, 2004 at 12:25 pm

I have been advised by Grafityp that a 60 degree blade will fit in our normal holder (45 degree). We need to cut reflective, which we haven’t done before. Can anyone suggest which blade and how I can get one tomorrow for 9.00 am?

I am really desperate… even if anyone has one locally, hint hint, I will replace on Monday morning or pay for it today.

    Many thanks,

Hi we used to own a graphtec, you can cut reflective with normal 45 blade no problem, Avery and LG, but do a test cut first, If you are cutting a lot of reflective it soon blunts the blade though

yep – Peters right your normal blade will suffice, you need to up the blade pressure to cut reflective, and remember to reduce the pressure when you’re finished or you’ll cut straight through the next regular vinyl you load up!

i agree with both above 😉 we cut all the time with regular blade with slight increase in pressure.
its advised, but not essential to have a separate blade for cutting reflective. the reason is, reflective is created using microscopic glass balls sandwiched between vinyl. these glass balls blunt your blade much faster than normal.
