  • Where to buy vinyl and supplies online ?

Posted by Mike Fear on April 28, 2004 at 5:47 pm

Another quick question – I want to get my supplies sorted out, just some tape, a range of vinyl in colours, gold, chrome etc… and any other bits and bobs I need to get going.

Is there anywhere good to buy online in the UK ? I’ve found loads in the USA, and loads of UK ones that dont have online buying, but nothing really good over here that has a decent range where I can get everything I need in one go.

I’m not hugely bothered if they’re not as cheap as some of the other places as this is mostly for trying things out and getting used to the cutter – just want somewhere convenient.

    Any help appreciated,

    Mike

I had a look on Roberts shop and there was a good range of vinyl, but not somewhere I can get everything in one go without having to pay multiple lots of postage.

As I dont really know exactly what I need, a site that I can browse would be good, also preferably one with online ordering so I dont have to phone up to get catalogues before ordering etc….

I`ve yet to find a supplier that sells the lot.

You`ll have to buy from at least 2 or 3 suppliers to get certain items/brands.

I buy vinyl from 1-2 supplier, app tape from another, edge carts from another .etc. etc.

But it all depends upon what you`re doing.

As Becky said ….. Yet to find one supplier that can supply everything!?

But to be honest we wouldn’t really want to stick all our eggs in one basket, we regularly use a few suppliers and cover the carriage charges in the vinyl price which is passed onto the customer. 😀 Suppliers can let you down no matter how much they tell you they won’t so to have back-up suppliers that you have experience with is a good option for us.

    😀

Thanks, OK so Robert looks like a good bet for the standard vinyls – what I could use is some recomendations to buy online :

    App tape
    Squeegees
Weird vinyl – stuff like neon, carbon fibre look, pearlescent – the sort of fancy effect stuff so I can experiment

    Hiya

Try Doro Tape on 0845 1651636 they have a pretty comprehensive list of vinyls (calendered and cast), magnetic vinyl, banners, refelectives, fluorescents, carbon fibre effect, polyesters, holographic, etched effect, stencil, textile films, application tapes, squeegees, cleaners, application fluid, plotter blades, A Boards, digital media and so on. Next day delivery too.

You could also try Hexis on 01543 411221, they have a similar range and do next day delivery too.

We have a website launching very soon selling mostly signmakers tools and supplies. We are not going to be selling vinyl at all, just products that help the signmakers job easier and save them money. If you or anyone else would like more info please send a pm or click on our link on the UKSB hoempage where you will find our contact details.

thanks, I just found mastergrave who seem OK for some supplies and have contacted Metamark as they have some nice looking neon and carbon things – dont know what the quality is like, but as its only for experimenting and getting used to the cutter it should be OK.
