  • where can i source very wide double sided tape please?

Posted by Hugh Potter on June 4, 2008 at 7:40 pm

hi all, any ideas where i could buy a wide double sided tape, minimum of 500mm wide, max of around 600mm.

due to a lack of a certain product, i am looking to try and ‘modify’ and existing one, and this is the only way i can see how for the moment,

the tape would need to be on a decent carrier to allow it so go through the cutter. not sure i want a lot of it at the moment, it’s an experiment, and if it doesn’t go well i won’t want 50m of 2ft wide dst laying around!

colour of the tape is irrelevant, though thin would be good, ie, not like vhb, though it will need to be very sticky as it’s going outside in all weathers and at times, a nasty environment!

can’t really let on what i’m up to at the mo! I have emailed the manufacturer of the film in question, to see if it is possible to have it made with a sticky back, but hold out little hope of a positive or affordable reply!

    cheers.

in a word, No! it needs to be ‘like a vinyl’ so i can cut it, and then send it out to the customer ready to fit.

    thanks for the idea though,

You can get B1 sheets of double sided. We get it from Robert Horne or
Pyramid Display. I think it’s Ritrama. Basically, it’s a thin polyester, with
adhesive on both sides, with a liner on, and I know you can plot it, as
I’ve made some glue masks for control panels using it.

thanks Nic, would be interested to know if you find out.

Jamie, thank you, how big is B1, bigger than A1? i’m thinking it’s smaller when i apply a little logic, but it might possibly be a start if nothing else comes to light, a double sided cast / poly / calendared for eg, would be ideal!

thanks Ian, i’ll call them tomorrow.

I think it’s about £1.20 ish per sheet. If you need a couple of sheets for testing, PM me your address & I’ll post you some.

We use an optically clear double sided adhesive and is very thin. Its available on rolls. Its made by Ritama but I got it from Europoint.

Let me know if you are stuck and i`ll send you a piece to try.

    Cheers

Sign master also do a double sided laminate, I dont know if it would be suitable for your application though, but worth asking for a sample(s)
