backing up lexen so it will be sticky.
as i have to cut them i was trying to cut down on a layer of vinyl.
that is providing i can print on to the lexen with the soljet?

else it needs to be normal white with print, then clear DS then the lexen.
think that will give the cutter a hernia.

Would be interested to hear if you manage to do this with the soljet. I know there is a a lexan for the edge for this purpose but unsure how well this cuts. Most times when cutting pvc its only possible to score surface rather that cut right through into the material beow although I guess several passes may achieve this?

Hi Chris, are you still battling with this? Can’t you use double sided to attach it?

    thanks colin jason

never done it but you have to have a plan don’t you. two manufactures of machines want to move to lexan but only lowish users, but i do do a nice bit with them on other stuff each month so worth some time and effort.

idea 1 print to reverse side of lexan and back up with DS white. = 2 layers

or print to white and DS clear the lexan on top. = 3 layers

cutting it may require a thermic lance but can work on that.

or edge print and over print with white and DS clear.
or simular idea with solvent white.
    or UV print with white.
or just thought try convex as a solution might not be a daft idea. looks and feels similar and proven print method.

"cutting it may require a thermic lance but can work on that."

Or a laser? If you get stuck and want me to try on ours (arrives next thursday) just let me know?

I know the LexEdge material is designed to do exactly what you want but I haven’t used it so can’t vouch for its properties. Alternatively, we can also back up in white on the cjv30 if you get really stuck. As you say, its always worth having options!

    All the best

don’t think you can cut it on a laser, be worth checking with the install guy as quite a few plastics including vinyl should not be cut on a laser. We’ve steered clear of this material on ours, I suppose you could cut polypropylene and then add transparent vinyl to it and back up??

Lexan is a form of polycarbonate which should be fine. Its only really PVC which is a problem as it gives off both cyanide gas and also hydrochloric acid in the form of vapour which "melts" your machine over time.

The vinyl print on the back would be a small problem but this can be overcome by printing onto polyprop or polyester?
