  • where can i source dance wear and rhinestones?

Posted by Michael Dunn on November 14, 2007 at 9:00 pm

hi all – i don’t know if i am posting in the right area – but this seems closest to the questions i have even tho its not sublimation.

i am trying to source a supplier of dance school type clothing for – guess what – a dance school.
they are pretty specific with what they want.
they want a white top with a slashed neckline – as in quite a wide straight neckline.

also they want as part of the design a rhinestone star
anyone know of anyone apart from
    http://www.thetransferpress.co.uk/
    or
    http://www.design-a-rock.co.uk/

    thanks 😀

I’ve used this company for custom made rhinestone transfers before and the product has always been very good.

I thought I would re-ignite this old post instead of starting another.

Has anyone managed to find a good trade supplier of dance garments yet?

We’ve just been asked to attend a local dance show at the end of this month for 300+ kids but we don’t have a clue where to purchase the dance wear from 😕 This is all from supplying 3 decorated dance hoodies 🙂

    Try http://www.jmb.es in Spain.
    Plenty of Rhinestone transfers there.

Neil, I know of a couple of fabric manufacturers who supply dance-wear manufacturers-I could ask them-if that’d be any help?

we really struggled finding dance garments – so much so we ended up having the majority of it made – that’s how we ended up with a small range, from different people asking for specific things we couldn’t source.

most of the suppliers – when i could find any – seem to have the stuff made in the far east – but need big volumes
i found a couple of suppliers in coventry for leotards etc but the lycra was really cheap shiny stuff. i could try addresses for you if i that’s any good?

also been practicing the rhinestone design in corel – and am going to order some consumables this week!!

OK Neil, I’ll call them tomorrow 🙂

Micky- the problem is there’s no manufacturing base here now- all the big names like Coates Viyella, M & S, Littlewoods etc, took all their manufacturing eastwards. Consequently, most manufacturers who are left are Micro businesses in comparison 🙁 🙁

For these businesses, like myself, the biggest problem is finding fabric manufacturers/suppliers here, who don’t still think they’re playing with the ‘big boys’ and are still quoting a thousand metres per colourway 👿
    They’re learning-but slowly 🙂 🙂

    News Neil !! 😀

The company I got in touch with yesterday didn’t get back to me 🙁 which is why you haven’t heard from me).

The other company were out of their office yesterday, but came up with the good this morning 😀

They said to try a company called Hectic Sports in Notts. 01159 835934, think they said the lady’s name is Lise?

It’s a small company, so she’s probably flexible enough to help – hope so.

No good mentioning me- never heard of her -just use the same fabric supplier

Let me know if it works?

Hi Barbara – i don’t suppose you would know where to source either a ribbed (similar to a corduroy look) or a waffle cotton, with some two way stretch to it – suitable for fitted t-shirts?

none of my suppliers do anything like it – i have an old ribbed t-shirt(dolce & gabbana) and my customer has a waffle sort of texture(from usa)??

    thanks

Hello Micky. Are you wanting to make your own T shirts, or have I misunderstood?

I know where you can get cotton/polyester/lycra for fitted shirts, the weight’s about 2oo gms x2 but it’s not ribbed, just plain.

Same company also does a Pique fabric (like Polo shirt fabric). But you have to buy in quantity,
    typically, 40-60 mtrs per colour.

They also do a lot of fabrics for sublimation, but the same quantities apply 🙁

If you’re looking for smaller quantities there a re a few clearance places left (though not many)
but you run the risk of not being able to repeat orders.

Quite a few smaller suppliers can be found on the sewing forum (www.thesewingforum.co.uk)
but they usually sell at retail prices.

Hope it’s of help-be nice to give a bit back 🙂

Hi Barbara – yes we have a lot of things made now, and a 40/60m roll would be fine, the main thing is continuity,

its just a customer wants a lot of clothing made out of a material that none of my suppliers have – i thought perhaps you might have different suppliers so asked on the off chance.
    its a nightmare finding
    thanks though 😀

Hi Micky, give these guys a ring-they know what they’re doing, and have all the right credentials, as you’ll see, if you have a look at their web site

    http://www.rainbowjersey.co.uk

Ask for Pete or Nigel (can mention my name) best to leave it ’til after 10:00 am I find, as Nige has a fair way to travel to work, so Pete holds fort until he arrives 🙂 🙂

If they can’t supply you, I’m sure they’ll be able to put you in touch. number is 01159 48 3223

Let me know how it goes.

    Barbara
