Hi all, does anyone know of a supplier for diamond grade reflective kits, I know where I can buy the material in roll form but diamond grade needs the edges sealed and I don’t have the equipment to do this, the customer want’s this style of reflective. I have already done one van for him with nicolite and although he is happy with it he said he would have prefered the honeycomb stuff even if it is dearer (dont often get that round here).
I need a kit for a merc sprinter, someone must do them as this is a common van.

I don’t have contact info but I believe a co called Halo do these.

You could try Graphicraft ( in Kempston?) They bought all the Fineline edge sealing kit.

hi martin, big-g will probably be able to steer you in the right direction. his old company Finline converting supplied this type of kit to all the Police vehicles around the UK. i heard that some other company bought most of their kit so im guess they will now offer the same services. 😀

If you fancy having a go at it yourself a Sprinter isn’t the most difficult vehicle in terms of shape.

The basic method is to make a paper or card or acetate template of the panels, cut your diamond grade by hand from the back (snapping it once scored). You can seal the edges once it is fitted using a decent UV lacquer and a brush or, if the customer doesn’t want lacquer on his van, I have used 6mm strips of clear vinyl around the perimeter of ALL cuts, overlapping onto the bodywork.

Be wary of anyone who crushes the edges of diamond grade to achieve sealing. In my observation it doesn’t work for very long. The piece of kit that Graphicraft bought from Fineline used ultrasound to cut and seal in one process and worked brilliantly.

Please note: I do not work for Graphicraft. 😉

Thanks for the plug big g. We have a separate division that deal with emergency vehicles where we do a special edge seal on diamond grade material. Give me a call and I will see what we can do to help. Tel no 01444 247717. Ask for Tony.
