where can i get hold of coloured static self cling film?

Hi Jim,

I’m not aware of anyone who does static cling in anything other than white and clear.

The reasoning behind this, as far as i’m aware is that the white stuff is used on the out side of “white goods” fridges etc….

The clear is used for the inside of windows hence it has to be clear for the message to show through then backed up with the colour of your choice or left clear.

Having said this i would be most interested to find out what your intended usage is and also if you do come across a supplier.

thanks for your reply, the reason i need them is because i have a client who wants 100 self cling car stickers for there club, now i can print them on my colorcamm, but it would be cheaper for me to find some one if anyone that can supply it on different colours, and i will let you know how i get on

Hi Jim,

I’m assuming as they are car stickers they will go on the inside of the window.

You might want to check this out as i’m not a 100% sure but i always assumed that you could only use one side of the cling to stick to the surface and not both sides the side that sticks is the side thats on the carrier paper/card.

hence if you printed onto blue and used them as car stickers they would only read from the insde if you stuck them on the inside, if you wanted them to read from the outside they would need to be stuck on the outside

the self cling that i get, which is fron victory design, they told me when i got it that both sides stick to the window, and i have printed on them and it does seem to stick and none have come back yet,

we get the self cling from victory aswell, we print onto the side that is not on the backing paper. No problems, sticks fine. 😀

Would be great if there was a supplier of coloured self cling?

we have used vinyl dyes on static cling films with good results, the dyes tend to make the static cling vinyl a bit softer but they still cling with a spray of plain water. I believe they get softer from the heat from sunlight that is absorbed instead of reflecting such as white will do.

Molco (Belgium) supply Vinyl Static Cling in a variety of opaque and translucent colours (www.molco.com) and so do Plastiprint in the US. At present I’m importing precut cling shapes for resale to Schools, Nurseries etc. but would like to start cutting it myself. Can anyone suggest a good cutter to handle this sort of stuff? I’m a complete beginner.

did a small order of car park permits, made them on static cling and then backed them up with white vinyl works perfectly. Actually run them through number plate rollers to get bubble free finish.

Another option is to use an ink from Apollo, using a lino sponge ink roller onto the area.

They’re based on Merseyside, sorry can’t remember web link at moment. Think Brian Dawson told me about them.

We use Velbex from Wardle Storeys in Brantham – Lots of colours, brilliant but pricey product. Only problem is the quantity to make an order. 100 sheets (4’x2′) min per colour. Sydney Beaumont in Leeds used to stock, maybe someone else will still
