Posted by jonnyboy82 on February 13, 2008 at 8:25 pm

Hi all this is my first post so go easy aye.

I’ve just bought a plotter from a friend a GCC Bobcat BI-60 who happened to lose all of the drivers & cables so i got it cheap but im having trouble trying to figure out how to set this up. I’ve downloaded the drivers from the GCC website and im still having no luck at all so i must be doing something wrong.

I’m also looking to use this with signlab e7 running it on my laptop which is running xp sp2.

Please help im really starting to lose my patients with it. (?)

Well Signlab has it’s own drivers, one you download will be no use with Signlab so don’t waste your time trying to get that to work. I assume your Signlab is legit? if it is then the dealer you bought it from will almost certainly be able to help.

    • Yes, you would want to download latest drivers available through CADlink web site ( http://www.cadlink.com ).
    • Critical bit is that you have the security dongle plugged into your computer. I take it you can create designs okay, but it’s sending the output that has you in fits?
    • You also want to make sure you have latest build of SignLab 7.0 , which you can perform via Start menu >> All Programs >> SignLab >> Update SignLab.
    • When updating SignLab, bear in mind that speed of your Internet connection is a factor.
    • I assume you’re acquired the proper cabling? At this point, you need to send a test job to confirm that you have communication.
    • Make sure you’ve gone Cut menu >> Plotting Defaults >> Setup button >> Port tab to confirm that you’re sending to the correct port.

    Regards,

    Rod at CADlink

Right after days & nights of messing around and still getting knowhere i took the plotter to a friend of mine who figured out the plotter isnt working properly, apparently when turned on a plotter should state whether its on or offline & will make some sort of movement but this one does not do anything it just fires up & thats all.

Is this correct and also has anyone had a problem like this before if so is it worth fixing or how do you fix it?

you should be able to load the media, and do a test cut without the plotter being connected to a computer,

The Bobcat will only show online once media is loaded and the pinch rollers are lowered, the head will move from right to left and back again after locating were the pinch rollers are positioned.

Then the online light should be green to show that the cutter is ready to receive data.

You could give our tech dept a call if you need to know more about the Bobcat.

    Regards
    Nigel
