Go to pantone.com and dowload their EPS pantone colour files (I think its under support) , print those for each media and profile and store em , get a panton color chart and match printed colours to the chart. That way you get a true standard.
The other thing to do is calibrarte a monitor , RBG is a light source and CMYK is a print , unless you calibrtate the monitor you will never hae a What you see is what you get (WYSIWYG) scenario. In fact it might be worthwhile to hire a setup and get an expert to colour match the whole printing system , you can charge more for prints if you are colour calibrared and there is far less wastage of materials , inks and time in respect of proofing.

We have had a similar problem here. It only dawned on me a few weeks ago that the contrast and brightness of the monitor did not show the true colour. to combat this we now issue scaled down prints from the cadet to issue to customers for approval. This way they get the final sign or print exactly as the appoved artwork.

This will help in the short term, however i may take up Rodneys advice as this will save money in the long run.

    Regards
    Danny 🙂

IF you are using Corel , go to TOOLS/Color management and let the monitor be matched to professional output. You will get VERY close that way to how the Cadet prints. There is a stuff up tho , if you modify the profile , IE less inks or use color seperation rules , your colours change. Always best to print a test file first and on big jobs , sign off proofs. In the RIP you can print job information , DO SO – and file it , it tells you the settings for that job , invaluable for repeats
