Pete – sometimes I think some customers like asking prices for various types of sign without realising the time and effort it takes us all to get back to them with accurate figures. They also expect us to have catalogues and brochures to hand out on any subject that is remotely sign related. Nowadays I tend to stick with what I do best (mainly vinyl) and just tell the casual browser that I don’t do other types of signs. (Regular customers I try harder for though – and will go out on a limb for an unusual request). Someone I have never met before -asking for something outwith my area of expertise is usually refered elsewhere. In our business, time is money and I don’t have time to go chasing after every single enquiry that comes our way. It’s too easy to tie yourself up chasing round doing unproductive jobs that are only remotely related to your business. 😀

Im with Phill on this one… I stick to banners as its what we are geared up to do, however if regular customers ask for something a bit different i will go the extra mile for them. but not for everyone.

I try to stick to” hand painted wooden signs”,that’s what I do,it say’s so on my bus.card, in my advert,on my ‘a’ board.Another chap came in the other day looking for something a bit different from his nasty old “hand painted wooden sign”.what can you say?
