Ya know, I thought it was amusing but we have no idea why Karl doesn’t.
It’s not right to take the p out of someone for their opinion. Not what we are here for.

I think Karl may have been upset by the other thread that was ongoing concerning a sick child in hospital.

The problem with forums is you never know what the other person is thinking and it is so very easy to inadvertently upset someone with a light hearted comment that may be perceived in the wrong way by someone else reading it.

I’m sure Ade didn’t mean any offense by this – Just as I’m sure Karl would have seen this in a different light had he not been reflecting on some of the sadness that we all sometimes bear in life.

On this occasion I think we have to agree to disagree – but respect each others views and move on.

I know I have offended in the past with comments I have made that were intended to be lighthearted but were unfortunately interpreted at the time as being malicious

    Bang on Phil.
And Cheryl, you can shove your apology. Everyone on here has the right to comment on any topic and not be ridiculed in that manner. Each to their own on whether they find it amusing or not.
We are also taking our 3 year old to Glenfield Hospital on Tuesday to find out if he will once again have to have his heart taken out and rebuilt.

Karl, just my opinion but I think you sometimes take things far to personally, you will just make yourself ill like that and then you will be no use to your family at all.
I can understand that having a son with a heart condition can be very stressful and worrying but if you shield him to much he will grow up thinking he is not as good as everyone else. I think people should be able to laugh and joke about their disabilities, if you don’t you just end up bitter and twisted.

You are quite correct in what you say though about being riduculed, nobody should have the micky taken just for having a different opinion but I don’t really think that Cheryls comments about you looking like the boy did that in any way although you obviously see it differently.

I do genuinely hope everything works out OK for your son, not just next week but for the rest of his life.

    Hi Lynn,

When Dylan was being born his heart stopped, luckily they got it working again. 12 hours later he started to go blue so the doctors took him and checked him over to see what the problem was. When they came back they told us he had a complex transposition of the great arteries and 3 VSD’s (holes in the heart). He needed to be taken to Glenfield Hospital in Leicester for an emergency op to allow oxygen to the lungs, as the blood that carries the oxygen around the heart and lungs was not getting there.
The ctga problem is when all the valves are the wrong way round. The blue blood should go one way and the pink blood the other, but these were going in the wrong direction.
The main op was 30 days later on the Monday at 8am, so we had to take him there on the sunday to ensure he was there on time. I can tell you I felt like I was taking him to his death bed. We were allowed to go into the operating theatre for the first couple of minutes to say our "goodbyes", but weren’t prepared for what happened next. They placed a mask over his tiny face to make him sleep. His little arms and legs struggled like mad whilst this happened. Not a nice sight for a Mother and Father to see.

10 hours later the op was over. Text book surgery they said. 2 surgeons operated on him, 1 doing the cutting and 1 doing the sewing.
We were allowed to see him a couple of hours later but were warned of his condition and what he looked like. He had pipes coming out of everywhere and due to the swelling his chest was still open.

We were eventually allowed to take him home a couple of weeks later, but had to take him back a month later to have him checked over.
On one of his checks they noticed there was a membrane growing over one of the valves which is forcing the blood to pass through the heart like a pressure washer. Cheryl and I have noticed recently a change in him. We were told when this happens to inform the hospital as this was a sign the next op may need to take place. We find out on Tuesday.

Going away from this slightly, as some of you may recall I used to be an undertaker. I have dealt with many funerals for children, and have had to console many bereaved parents, one of which was down to a little girl, only 6 years old who was abused by her step dad then strangled.
I held a fathers arm whilst he carried his childs coffin into church reassuring him and telling him how strong he was. After he place the coffin down I shook his hand. We did not speak at this point. I couldn’t.

Now I’m no kill-joy. I love to have a laugh and a joke, and am sorry if I have come across as a grumpy old f*rt. But all this was going on at the same time as my sons problems. Even now I have flashbacks that really crush me up. And when I hear stories about Grahams daughter and Maddie I don’t feel my best. Sorry.
